NFL Picks: Colts and Steelers in Key AFC Matchup

NFL Picks: The inconsistent Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a much needed 30-23 home payout over the Houston Texans. The win reminded everyone of their good side and playoff potential. Once again the Indianapolis Colts are the top team in the AFC South. In fact, the Colts are looking like their best team since Andrew Luck arrived on the scene as team savior and QB in 2012.

The Steelers will host the Colts at Heinz Field on Saturday with coverage on CBS starting at 4:25 PM ET. Indianapolis opened as a three point favorite with a total of 48.

Steelers Shine

Pittsburgh is 4-3 straight up, 3-4 against the spread and 4-3 over the total. The Steelers are coming off a 30-23 home payout over Houston to continue a pattern of win, loss, win, loss, win. Pittsburgh has shown marked improvement on offense with a ranking of eight overall in the NFL. The Steelers slipped on the other side of the line and rank 15th for total defense.

Indianapolis

The Colts are 5-2 SU, 6-1 ATS and 5-2 over the total after a 27-0 statement making home payout over Cincinnati. The Colts have their best metrics in years with rankings of first in the NFL for total offense and third for total defense. Luck has a 100.5 QB rating with a 19-7 TD-INT ratio.

Matchup and Pick

The Colts have been a decent betting value on the road with 12 payouts in their last 19 away games. Indianapolis has gone over the total in eight out of their last nine road games.

Pittsburgh has been an inconsistent betting commodity at home with just six payouts in their last 16 games at Heinz Field. The Steelers have gone over the total in five out of their last home games.

The Colts have covered the spread in three out of their last four meetings with the Steelers. Indianapolis has come away with the money in three out of their last five games at Pittsburgh. The Colts and Steelers have gone over the total in their last two meetings. Three out of the last four meetings between the Colts and Steelers at Pittsburgh have gone over the total.
