The council presents ideas about official visits and coaching restrictions

On the advice of the Modernization of Rules Subcommittee, the Division I Council Thursday entered a number of recommendations into its legislative cycle, including suggested modifications to coaching limitations and recruiting visits.

On these ideas, the Council is anticipated to vote in January. The majority of the amendments would go into effect in July 2023 if approved. Members also agreed to the Student Athlete Experience Committee’s suggestion to propose legislation into the Council’s legislative cycle that would harmonize the regulations for mid-year softball transfers with those for baseball. The plan was put out by the Council with an April vote and an August 2023 start date if it passed.

In addition, the Council granted a request from the Football Oversight Committee to immediately alter the football recruiting schedule. Prospects won’t have a cap on the amount of official visits they may make to NCAA member institutions if the recruitment plan is approved in January.
