De La Hoya vs Salgado Odds

De La Hoya vs Salgado Odds – Golden Boy Promotions is back on ESPN2 this Friday night as they bring us Diego De La Hoya vs Jose Salgado as the main event.

You have to wonder what young Diego thinks of all that is going on at Golden Boy. CEO and uncle Oscar De La Hoya is an icon but GBP took a big blow earlier this year when top draw Saul “Canelo” Alvarez tested positive for steroids. Since then, Oscar has flirted with MMA but on the boxing side there does not seem to be much news. If DDLH expects to be headlining PPVs in the near future he needs to just keep winning for now. This fight sets DDLH up for a support role on “Canelo’s” return fight in the fall.

Diego De La Hoya has been brought up on similar fair and here he is getting exposure on ESPN. The young De La Hoya has moved his record to a perfect 20-0 and he is still just 23 years old so GBP is still not taking any risks with him. De La HOya is defending a pair of regional belts in this one. He picked up the NABO and NABF titles with a UD win over previously unbeaten Randy Caballero in his last outing and most boxing pundits will tell you that Salgado is a notch below Caballero.

In Salgado (36-4-1), he is facing a rugged veteran who has fought a lot of big names, but he is moving up to bantamweight from super flyweight. Salgado has been in the ring with the likes of Sor Rungvisai and Carlos Cuadras and his other career losses come to more journeyman types. Salgado is the type of choice as an opponent who will get De La Hoya to put in some work but at the end of the day he has failed to break through against the top shelf guys he has faced.

The boxing calendar gets started early this week as the sports books are posting lines for fights at Yourk Hall on Wednesday. Promoter Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom Boxing hit with a rare mid-week card that is headlined by three regional title bouts. The main events of the evening are set to air on SKY TV in the U.K. so check your local listings for start times. As is becoming too much the norm with fights in England, there is nothing resembling a competitive line is up at the books. Lines for four of the ten scheduled fights appear below.

The Commonwealth and a WBA regional title at cruiserweight are on the line in the main event as undefeated fighters Luke Watkins (13-0) and Lawrence Okolie (8-0) clash. Okolie participated in the 2016 Olympics representing England and he has a long amateur background that sees him heavily favored over Watkins, who went 4-0 in 2017 with all four wins coming via stoppage.
