Dec 10 Boxing Odds

Dec 10 Boxing Odds For International Fights – Several random odds for boxing matches Saturday have popped up at the sports books, including odds for two world title fights.

Starting off in the United States, HBO will bring the WBC and WBO world title defense of Terence Crawford (29-0) as he takes on the challenge of John Molina Jr (29-6). Crawford has held world titles in two different weight classes and he is commonly in the top 5 of most “best pound for pound” lists out there. The respected Transnational Boxing Rankings Board lists Crawford as the #1 ranked 140 pound fighter and champion, and they list him as #5 on their pound for pound list.

John Molina Jr is nowhere near anyone’s pound-for-pound lists, but the TBRB has him ranked #4 in the 140-pound weight class. That rating comes largely on the strength of his last victory back in June when he defeated well-regarded Ruslan Provodnikov. Overall however, Molina is 5-5 in his last ten fights, losing to higher level competitors such as Adrien Broner, Humberto Soto and Lucas Martin Matthysse and, heading into this fight, it can be said he has never faced anyone with the complete skill set that Crawford brings to the table.

Heading down to New Zealand, the vacant WBO world title at heavyweight will be going home with the winner of undefeated fighters Joseph Parker (21-0) and Andy Ruiz Jr (29-0). Parker is 24 years old and he is the top-ranked heavyweight by the WBO. The title was vacated by Tyson Fury earlier this year, and Parker is facing Ruiz Jr, the WBO’s #3 ranked fighter. Former champion Wladimir Klitschko is ranked #2 by the WBO sanctioning body, but he is on the shelf with an injury resulting from the match defaulting to Ruiz Jr.

The hard hitting Ruiz Jr is still just 27 years old, and he has spent 2016 fighting actively, going 3-0 thus far this year. This came after a 2015 where Ruiz Jr seemed to lose focus and people were questioning his willingness to put in the work. He ended 2015 by cancelling a December match-up. Ruiz Jr came back in mid-2016 and he has been consistently in the gym and training. He fought three times in six months as he tuned himself up for his first world title shot.

Meanwhile in Montreal, Canada light heavyweight Eleider Alvarez looks to add to his 20-0 record as he faces Norbert Dabrowski (19-5-1). Alvarez is scheduled for a major challenge in February of 2017 when he is scheduled to face former world super middleweight champion Lucien Bute (32-3-1). Alvarez is currently ranked #7 at 175 pounds by the TBRB, and he is looking to raise his profile in a weight class that has Andre Ward ensconced as the clear #1 fighter in the division. Alvarez is one of those fighters who will look to challenge that supremacy in 2017, and he is not expected to be pressed against Dabrowksi.
