DeGale vs Jack Boxing Odds For Saturday

DeGale vs Jack Boxing Odds For Saturday – This Saturday night in Brooklyn, New York a pair of world titles are set to be unified at super middleweight WBC titlist Badou Jack faces IBF belt holder James DeGale in a 12-round bout. The fight is the main event of the Premier Boxing Champions card set for the Barclays Center and there are two other world title fights on the card in support.

Degale (23-1) enters as the favorite for the bout. DeGale is a 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist from the United Kingdom and he is one of the few world champions from that country to venture outside of England to fight. The Swedish-born Jack is 20-1-2 overall and he has made two successful title defenses of the WBC belt he took from previously unbeaten Anthony Dirrell in April of 2015. DeGale’s only career loss comes at the hands of fellow Brit George Groves, while Jack suffered a flash KO loss to Derek Edwards. Both men have turned those losses into positive experiences as the two have been on the rise ever since. Jack has been considered one of the most improved fighters out there in the  last few years and DeGale fights with a chip on his shoulder because he deserves more respect than he gets in the U.K. Both men fought on the same Showtime event in April of 2016 and this fight has been in the works ever since.

Mexico’s Gabriel Ramirez holds the WBO version of the super middleweight title and Germany’s Felix Sturm currently holds the WBA version, so the Jack versus DeGale bout unifies two of the four major world titles. Ramirez is waiting in the wings for the winner, while Sturm is unlikely to leave his native Germany to fight. Nevertheless, the DeGale vs Jack fight is an exciting development in the world of boxing where too many fighters can pick and choose their way to a world title while avoiding real competition.

A second world title will be disputed as 130-pound IBF world titleholder Jose Pedraza (22-0) takes on the challenge of 22-year-old Gervonta Davis (16-0). Davis is part of Floyd Mayweather Jr’s “The Money Team” and has had the label of hot prospect for some time. However, the seasoned Pedraza, who has already made two successful defenses of his belt, represents a major step up in competition.

The third world title fight sees 122-pound female world champion Amanda Serrano of Brooklyn taking on Mexico’s Yazmin Rivas. The fight has not seen odds at the books as of yet, but they may still pop up at the last minute. You can catch this fight on Showtime Xtreme.
