The Pistons were unable to cover as 3.5-point favorites in their 108-105 loss to the Boston Celtics in their last outing. The total points for the game (213) finished just over the projected point total of 212.5. Boston’s turnover percentage was their biggest advantage over Detroit. The Celtics had a rate of 12.5 (worse than their season average of 11.7), while the Pistons posted a mark of 14.5 (above their season average of 10.6). Blake Griffin was Detroit’s high scorer with 24 points on 8-for-17 shooting.

In the Nets’ last matchup, they were blown out by the New York Knicks, 115-96. They failed to cover as 1-point underdogs. The combined points for the game (211) came in under the projected point total of 215. New York out-rebounded Brooklyn. The Knicks had more offensive rebounds (16 vs. 11), defensive rebounds (37 vs. 21) and total rebounds (53 vs. 32). Brooklyn’s Rondae Hollis-Jefferson contributed 16 points and seven rebounds in the contest.

It will be a matchup of conflicting paces as the up-and-down Nets will look to push the more grind-it-out Pistons. Dating back to the 2017-18 season, the Nets rank fifth in possessions per game while the Pistons are 21st.

Detroit is 4-2 straight up (SU), but they have a hard time covering the spread (1-4 against the spread (ATS)). Vegas tends to place the total high when the Pistons are involved, as three of their 5 games have finished under the projected point total.

Although Brooklyn struggles winning games outright (2-5 SU), they have a solid 4-3 record ATS. Nets games also tend to finish under the total (57.1 percent).

This is the second game of the season between these two teams. Caris LeVert led both teams with 27 points in the first game, in which the Nets lost 103-100 but covered as 6-point underdogs. The game finished with a total of 203 points, which was 10 points below the projected point total of 213 points. The Pistons had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (29.2 vs. 13.5) and had a better turnover percentage (12.1 vs. 15.6).
