Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox Odds

Vegas is listing Detroit (+130) as the underdog to Chicago (-140). Bettors can gamble on the game’s total with odds sitting at -120 for over 9.5 runs and even money (+100) for under 9.5. Gamblers can also bet on the game’s spread with the most recent runline odds standing at -170 for the Tigers +1.5 runs and +150 for the White Sox -1.5.

The Tigers are 55-83 SU and are 70-67 against the spread (ATS). They’ve lost 7.3 units for moneyline bettors and 7.2 units ATS. The White Sox are putting the ball in the right hand of Lucas Giolito (10-9, 5.66 ERA, 1.41 WHIP), who has 111 strikeouts and 77 walks this season. Giolito is 2-1 with 23 strikeouts and a 5.25 ERA over four starts against Detroit this year.

The bullpen has a 4.54 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 9.6 K/9. In 61 divisional games, White Sox starters have an ERA of 4.53 and the bullpen’s ERA is 3.34.

The Chicago hitters are putting up 4.2 runs per contest, including 4.3 per game against divisional foes and 4.6 per game over their last five. The team has a slash-line of .290/.358/.491 over its last five contests and is 3-2 SU during that span.

First baseman Jose Abreu and third baseman Yolmer Sanchez have led the White Sox offense this year. Abreu is hitting .272/.331/.491 with 22 home runs, 78 RBIs and 67 runs scored, while Sanchez’s line is .250/.317/.379 with seven homers, 47 RBIs, 53 runs and 13 stolen bases.

The Tigers have lost 13.9 units and are 49-53 ATS when facing a right-handed starting pitcher this year. The over has cashed in 39 of those games, compared to 57 that’ve hit the under against righty starters. On the other hand, the White Sox have lost 3.9 units and are 18-17 ATS when facing a left-handed starting pitcher. The over’s hit in 15 of those games, as opposed to 19 that’ve gone under.
