Eilert Named Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Coach Bob Huggins has named Josh Eilert the assistant men’s basketball coach at West Virginia University. Eilert has spent the previous 15 years working with the Mountaineer basketball staff, including as an interim assistant coach during the 2016–17 season.

After working as the Assistant Athletics Director for Basketball Operations, Eilert transitioned into the coaching position. After serving as the video coordinator for the first six seasons under Huggins, he transitioned into the operations position on the staff in 2013. Eilert served as an interim assistant coach during the 2016–17 campaign. He was in charge of scouting WVU’s wing players at the time, as well as off-campus recruiting and working with them.

Erik Martin, who was just appointed head coach of the South Carolina State men’s basketball program, is replaced by Eilert. Eilert was included in Silver Waves Media’s list of the Top 50 Notable Division I Support Staff in 2021. The Mountaineers have already qualified for ten NCAA Tournaments.
