Encarnacion Traded to Yankees, Mbappe Throws First Pitch and More

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

A busy Saturday in Major League Baseball had plenty of moments worth remembering, and social media went to work. The Yankees acquired AL home run leader Edwin Encarnacion from the Mariners. French soccer star Kylian Mbappe threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium before the Cubs rallied for a dramatic win against the Dodgers. We had another straight steal of home. And it all leads into Fathers Day, a Sunday that’s very special in many baseball circles.

Edwin Encarnacion and his parrot home run celebration are coming to the Bronx, and a scary lineup that’s getting back Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton soon just got even scarier.

Not surprisingly, Mbappe was better at juggling the soccer ball than pitching the baseball.

As for the game, the Cubs had only two hits until the ninth inning, when Anthony Rizzo got the one that counted.

We talk all the time about triples or inside-the-park home runs being the most exciting plays in baseball, but stealing home has a pretty strong case, too.

Happy Fathers Day to all those dads out there, especially the former Major Leaguers who have kids in the big leagues now. And there are suddenly a lot of them.
