ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – Round 20 Preview

Premier League

Traditionally, the Boxing Day brings us much more entertainment and drama in the English Premier League, and here at GetMoreSports you can check out our betting picks and predictions for the Round 20 matches.

With eight exciting games set for the Boxing Day, December 26th, 2017, we’ll have a chance to earn some money just after the Christmas. Likewise, on Wednesday we’ll see a mighty Manchester City in the action against Newcastle at St. James’ Park, while the clash between Crystal Palace and Arsenal at Selhurst Park will close down the round on Thursday, December 28th, 2017.

TOTTENHAM vs. SOUTHAMPTON

3-Way: 1: Tottenham -278; X: +411 Draw; 2: Southampton +847 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread -1.5: Tottenham +104; Southampton -119

Total +3: Over +118; Under -138

TOTTENHAM

The Spurs hammered Burnley 3:0 on the road last weekend, and Harry Kane was their hero with a magnificent hat-trick to equal Alan Shearer’s record for the most Premier League goals in a calendar year, which is 36. Harry Kane is a true scoring machine in the last few years, and he will have a huge chance to break a record against the Saints on a Boxing Day. Expect from the Spurs to play this match for their best player, as this will be their last clash this year.

Injuries and suspensions: Victor Wanyama (hyaline cartilage), Toby Alderweireld (hamstring)

Head-to-head: The Spurs won both last season’s H2H meetings, but the Saints beat them two years ago in London, 2:1.

SOUTHAMPTON

The Saints are without a win for six Premier League matches in a row, recording three draws and three losses in the process, while they’ve earned just one victory in the last ten rounds. Last weekend, they’ve disappointed their fans with a 1:1 stalemate against Huddersfield and the Saints are now in the 13th spot of the table, just three points above the relegation zone.

Injuries and suspensions: All players are ready to go

Tottenham vs. Southampton – Match Prediction

The Spurs are playing pretty carefully on the home soil, as just three out of nine games are finished with more than two goals in a total. This time, Harry Kane will search for a record, and the visitors are struggling defensively, so I expect to see some goals here.

MY PICK: Over 3 Goals (+118)

BOURNEMOUTH vs. WEST HAM

3-Way: 1: Bournemouth +175; X: +225 Draw; 2: West Ham +171 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread 0: Bournemouth -105; West Ham -107

Total +2.5: Over +112; Under -135

BOURNEMOUTH

The Cherries had a quite difficult schedule in the last couple of weeks, recording four straight defeats against Manchester City (4:0), Liverpool (4:0), and Manchester United (1:0) in the Premier League, and Chelsea (2:1) in the English Carabao Cup. They are currently in the 18th spot of the Premier League table with 16 points and a 15:28 goal difference, just one point behind their next rival West Ham in the safe 17th spot.

Injuries and suspensions: Tyrone Mings (back), Brad Smith (hip)

Head-to-head: In the previous four H2H meetings both sides have won two times each, while the Cherries have earned a 3:2 victory in the previous match at Vitality Stadium.

WEST HAM

The Hammers lost to Newcastle 3:2 in the previous round of the Premier League, missing the penalty kick along the way, but they’ve stayed above the relegation zone with 17 points and 19:35 goal difference. If they lose the next match, they will definitely drop into the danger zone, so we can expect to see a patient approach from David Moyes and his boys when they face the Cherries on a Boxing Day.

Injuries and suspensions: Jose Fonte (malleolar)

Bournemouth vs. West Ham – Match Prediction

Important match for both sides, so I don’t expect to see an open flow game, and if we don’t get a quick opening goal, this could be a true trench fight.

MY PICK: Under 2.5 Goals (-135)

CHELSEA vs. BRIGHTON

3-Way: 1: Chelsea -500; X: +576 Draw; 2: Brighton +1648 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread -2: Chelsea +107; Brighton -125

Total +3: Over +114; Under -133

CHELSEA

The Blues failed to find the net for the second time in the last four Premier League matches, playing a boring nil-nil draw with Everton in the previous round, and they are still in the third spot of the table with 39 points and a 32:14 goal difference, but now they are trailing 16 points behind the leader Manchester City. Chelsea has won five consecutive games on the home soil, while three of these five victories was with a 1:0 result.

Injuries and suspensions: David Luiz (knee, doubtful)

Head-to-head: The last time these two sides played against each other in the 1988/1989 season, and Chelsea won both matches. In a friendly game five years ago Brighton won 3:1.

BRIGHTON

The Seagulls put an end on a terrible seven-game run without a win, beating Watford at home 1:0 in the previous round of the Premier League, and now they are sitting at the 12th spot of the table with 21 points and a 15:23 goal difference. Brighton has earned seven points away from home so far with a 2-1-6 record and a 5:11 goal difference, while they were beaten in the previous three matches without scoring a goal.

Injuries and suspensions: Steve Sidwell (back)

Chelsea vs. Brighton – Match Prediction

I think it is time for Chelsea’s convincing win, particularly as the Seagulls are playing pretty poorly in the last few weeks.

MY PICK: Chelsea AH -2 (+107)

HUDDERSFIELD vs. STOKE CITY

3-Way: 1: Huddersfield +154; X: +211 Draw; 2: Stoke City +208 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread 0: Huddersfield -134; Stoke City +116

Total +2: Over -139; Under +119

HUDDERSFIELD

The Terriers played a 1:1 stalemate with Southampton on the road last weekend, and it was their first draw in the last five matches along with two victories over Watford (4:1) and Brighton (2:0), and two defeats against Chelsea (3:1) and Everton (2:0). Huddersfield is now in the 11th spot of the table with 22 points and a 17:31 goal difference, three points ahead of the next opponent Stoke City, and six points above the danger zone.

Injuries and suspensions: Elias Kachunga (ligament), Philip Billing (ankle)

Head-to-head: The last two H2H duels were in the 2001/2002 season in the English League One, and both games were finished in a draw (0:0 and 1:1).

STOKE CITY

After three consecutive defeats against West Ham at home (3:0), and Burnley (1:0) and Tottenham away (5:1), the Potters have beaten West Bromwich Albion 3:1 on last Saturday, so now they are in the 14th spot of the table with 19 points and a 22:40 goal difference, just three points above the relegation zone. The Potters’ defense is still struggling, as they couldn’t keep the clean sheet for nine games in a row.

Injuries and suspensions: Stephen Ireland (fractured leg)

Huddersfield vs. Stoke City – Match Prediction

Both teams will probably fight against the relegation until the end of the season, so three points from this clash could be crucial. Therefore, I expect to see a tight match with no more than two goals in a total, besides Stoke City’s fragile defense.

MY PICK: Under 2 Goals (+119)

MANCHESTER UNITED vs. BURNLEY

3-Way: 1: Manchester United -385; X: +491 Draw; 2: Burnley +1257 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread -1.5: Manchester United -131; Burnley +112

Total +3: Over -130; Under +108

MANCHESTER UNITED

The Red Devils are losing the pace with the Citizens, as they are 13 points behind the leader after a 2:2 draw with Leicester City in the previous round, although the Foxes played with ten men in the last 20 minutes of the game. Jose Mourinho’s boys are huge favorites in the next clash, as they’ve recorded eight victories and just one defeat at Old Trafford so far, allowing just three goals to their rivals, and scoring 22 in a return.

Injuries and suspensions: Marouane Fellaini (knee), Eric Bailly (ankle), Michael Carrick (heart), Antonio Valencia (leg, doubtful)

Head-to-head: The Red Devils won two out of the previous four H2H meetings, while other two were finished in a 0:0 draw, including the last year’s match at Old Trafford.

BURNLEY

The Clarets had an awful game last weekend when they were beaten 3:0 by Tottenham at home to record their fifth defeat of the season, second in the last five matches. They are in the seventh spot of the table at the moment with 32 points, three points behind Liverpool in the fourth spot. In the previous ten Premier League matches, just one game is finished with both teams on the scoreboard.

Injuries and suspensions: Tom Heaton (shoulder), Dean Marney (cruciate ligament rupture), James Tarkowski (suspension through sports court)

Manchester United vs. Burnley – Match Prediction

Although the Clarets are in a great form this season, and they are always a tough opponent to beat, the Red Devils will have to win here if they want to keep any chances of getting the trophy.

MY PICK: Manchester United AH -1.5 (-131)

WATFORD vs. LEICESTER CITY

3-Way: 1: Watford +147; X: +244 Draw; 2: Leicester City +191 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread 0: Watford -125; Leicester City +109

Total +2.5: Over -129; Under +107

WATFORD

The Hornets are in crisis as they’ve recorded four losses in a row, scoring just two goals in the process, and conceding eight in a return. Their defensive job is pretty poor throughout the season, while their attack isn’t playing on the high level recently. The Hornets are currently in the 10th spot of the table with 22 points and a 27:34 goal difference, while they’ve won just one game at home in the last five encounters.

Injuries and suspensions: Craig Cathcart (knee), Nathaniel Chalobah (knee), Troy Deeney (red card suspension)

Head-to-head: In the last four H2H duels Leicester City won three matches, while the Hornets grabbed one win. Just one of these four tilts was ended in the under.

LEICESTER CITY

The Foxes are playing well since Claude Puel took the helm, and in the previous round they’ve managed to earn a 2:2 draw against Manchester United at home with Harry Maguire’s goal in the dying seconds of the second half. They are in the eighth spot of the Premier League table with 27 points and a 29:28 goal difference, while the Foxes are undefeated for seven matches in a row away from home.In the last five away matches both teams managed to score.

Injuries and suspensions: Robert Huth (malleolar), Daniel Amartey (red card suspension)

Watford vs Leicester City – Match Prediction

This should be an entertaining match with some goals on both sides. The Hornets will try to end a losing string in the front of the home fans, while the Foxes are in a great form on the road thus far.

MY PICK: Over 2.5 Goals (-129)

WEST BROMWICH ALBION vs. EVERTON

3-Way: 1: West Bromwich Albion +148; X: +212 Draw; 2: Everton +217 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread 0: West Bromwich Albion -141; Everton +121

Total +2: Over -109; Under -105

WEST BROMWICH ALBION

The Baggies are now without a win for 18 games in a row, after they were beaten by Stoke City 3:1 in the previous round. It is a true nightmare for West Brom’s fans, who thought the new manager will bring some freshness to the team’s play, but with Alan Pardew, the Baggies are still playing pretty flimsy.

Injuries and suspensions: Craig Dowson (knee, doubtful), Nacer Chadli (muscle, doubtful)

Head-to-head: The Baggies won just two out of the last 12 H2H meetings, while Everton recorded seven wins in the process. The Toffees also won the last season’s clash at The Hawthorns, 2:1.

EVERTON

The Toffees are in a brilliant form as they are undefeated in the last seven games in all competitions, including a nil-nil draw with Chelsea at home in the previous round. The Toffees are now sitting in the ninth spot of the Premier League table with 26 points and a 24:30 goal difference, while they’ve conceded just two goals in the last five Premier League matches.

Injuries and suspensions: Seamus Coleman (fractured leg), Ramiro Funes Mori (knee), Leighton Baines (calf, doubtful), Ross Barkley (hamstring, doubtful)

West Bromwich Albion vs. Everton – Match Prediction

The Baggies are slight favorites in this clash, but after 18 matches without a victory, who knows what is happening in their heads. I believe they will try the best they can, but I think a draw is a possible outcome because Everton showed some dramatic improvement since Sam Allardyce sat on the bench.

MY PICK: Draw (+212)

LIVERPOOL vs. SWANSEA CITY

3-Way: 1: Liverpool -625; X: +707 Draw; 2: Swansea City +1751 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread -2.5: Liverpool +118; Swansea City -140

Total +3: Over +106; Under -128

LIVERPOOL

The Reds played a thriller with Arsenal in the previous round ended in a 3:3 stalemate, their third draw in the last four games, while they are undefeated for ten matches in a row. However, they are still in the fourth spot of the table with 35 points and a 41:23 goal difference, four points behind Chelsea in the third spot, and 20 points behind the Citizens at the top. The Reds are still unbeaten on the home soil, recording four wins and five draws with a 14:3 goal difference, while they drew three times in a row at Anfield.

Injuries and suspensions: Nathaniel Clyne (back), Joel Matip (muscle, doubtful), Alberto Moreno (wound, doubtful)

Head-to-head: In the previous four H2H clashes both teams recorded two wins each, while Swansea City has beaten the Reds in their last meeting at Anfield, 3:2.

SWANSEA CITY

The Swans named their 35-year old player Leon Britton as a temporary manager, and he will lead the team at Anfield on a Boxing Day. The Swans are sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table with 13 points and an 11:26 goal difference, while in the last five matches they’ve recorded one win, one draw, and three losses. On the road, the Swans were beaten for six matches in a row.

Injuries and suspensions: All players are ready to go

Liverpool vs. Swansea City – Match Prediction

The Reds are without a win for three games at home, and they lost their previous H2H duel at Anfield – enough for me to put my money on a convincing triumph.

MY PICK: Liverpool AH -2.5 (+118)

NEWCASTLE vs. MANCHESTER CITY

3-Way: 1: Newcastle +1189; X: +545 Draw; 2: Manchester City -417 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread +2: Newcastle -121; Manchester City +106

Total +3.5: Over +113; Under -138

NEWCASTLE

The Magpies have beaten West Ham 3:2 on the road last weekend after they’ve won just one point in the previous nine matches. Now, they are sitting at the 15th spot of the Premier League table with 18 points and a 19:29 goal difference, two points above the relegation zone. At home, they’ve recorded four straight losses, and they will need their best game if they want to avoid the fifth this Wednesday.

Injuries and suspensions: All players are ready to go

Head-to-head: Their previous H2H meeting was ended in a 1:1 draw at St.James’ Park, while the Magpies lost eight out of the last ten tilts with the Citizens, who recorded eight victories.

MANCHESTER CITY

The Citizens continued to torture their opponents in the Premier League, beating Bournemouth 4:0 in the previous round to record the 17th consecutive victory. They are playing tremendous football, pressuring their rivals for all 90 minutes, and creating scoring chances at will. The Citizens are topping the table with 13 points ahead of their city rival in the second spot, while they’ve won all nine games on the road with a 24:5 goal difference.

Injuries and suspensions: Benjamin Mendy (cruciate ligament surgery), John Stones (hamstring, doubtful)

Newcastle vs. Manchester City – Match Prediction

Newcastle’s defense doesn’t look strong enough to stop the brutal Manchester City’s attack, so I think we will some goals in the home team’s net.

MY PICK: Manchester City AH -2 (+106)

CRYSTAL PALACE vs. ARSENAL

3-Way: 1: Crystal Palace +361; X: +295 Draw; 2: Arsenal -132 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread +0.5: Crystal Palace +112; Arsenal -132

Total +3: Over +103; Under -119

CRYSTAL PALACE

The Eagles are unbeaten for eight matches in a row, recording three wins and five draws in a process. They’ve recorded three wins and three losses in the previous six games on the home soil, but they couldn’t keep their net intact on those six occasions. Crystal Palace is currently in the 16th spot of the table with 18 points and a 16:29 goal difference, so there is still a lot of work ahead of Roy Hodgson’s boys.

Injuries and suspensions: Connor Wickham (cruciate ligament rupture, doubtful)

Head-to-head: The Eagles won their previous H2H meeting at Selhurst Park (3:0), so the Gunners will try to bounce back this time. Arsenal won three out of the previous five duels, along with one draw at Emirates Stadium two seasons ago.

ARSENAL

The Gunners have managed to earn a 3:3 draw against Liverpool at home in the previous round, although they were losing 2:0 at the start of the second half. The Gunners had another poor game, and they were pretty lucky to avoid the defeat against the Reds, while it was their third draw in the last four Premier League matches. They are laying at the sixth spot of the table with 34 points and a 34:23 goal difference, while they’ve earned just nine points on the road thus far with a 2-3-4 record, and a terrible 9:13 goal difference.

Injuries and suspensions: Santi Cazorla (plantar fascia), Aaron Ramsey (hamstring)

Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal – Match Prediction

The Gunners will need to find their attacking flow if they want to win this game, particularly as Roy Hodgson will certainly know how to tactically prepare his team. However, I believe both teams will score here, as the Eagles found the rhythm, bagging at least a goal in the previous four rounds.

MY PICK: Over 3 Goals (+103)
