EPL Power Rankings For Round 25

EPL

The transfer window came to a close as many of the top teams made big moves, including one that included two of the top six in the English Premier League (and one from Germany). It also looks like one team could be dropping out of these power rankings, making this a nine-team list as Manchester City are lapping the field. The odds have climbed so high that a $50,000 would only return $100 on Manchester City. With that in mind, let’s take a look at this week’s power rankings in the order that the oddsmakers see the teams.

1. Manchester City

EPL Title Odds: -50000

Manchester City kicked off its week with a 2-0 win in the FA Cup at Cardiff as Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling scored. Three days later, they opened up a 15-point lead in the EPL table with a 3-0 home win over West Brom as De Bruyne scored again, along with Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero. City tried to get Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City after missing out on Alexis Sanchez, but they have opened enough of a cushion that they can rest players in the EPL as they are also in the Champions League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. On Saturday, Manchester City heads to Burnley.

2. Manchester United

EPL Title Odds: +10000

Manchester United strolled to a 4-0 win at Yoevil Town in the FA Cup in Sanchez’s debut for the team, in which he had two assists. Marcus Rashford, Ander Herrera, Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku all scored for United, who then lost 2-0 at Tottenham, but are still in second place. United allowed a goal 11 seconds into the game and then Phil Jones scored an own goal in one of their worst performances of the season, but they have to get back on track on Saturday at home against Huddersfield Town.

3. Liverpool

EPL Title Odds: +15000

Liverpool crashed out of the FA Cup with a 3-2 loss at home to West Brom in which Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah scored, but their defense let them down once more. In the EPL, Liverpool routed Huddersfield Town 3-0 on the road as Firmino and Salah (from the penalty spot) scored again, along with Emre Can. They’re three points behind Manchester United in the table as they host Tottenham on Sunday.

4. Chelsea

EPL Title Odds: +15000

Chelsea got two goals from Michy Batshuayi in a 3-0 win over Newcastle at home in the FA Cup, while Marcos Alonso also scored. However, Chelsea were awful in a 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth in the EPL, allowing three goals in 16 minutes. Chelsea are fourth in the table, tied on points with Liverpool, and they loaned out Batshuayi to Borussia Dortmund. Chelsea got Olivier Giroud from Arsenal, who then bought Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund in a three-team deal. Giroud could make his debut on Monday in the EPL at Watford.

5. Tottenham

EPL Title Odds: +20000

Tottenham drew 1-1 at Newport County as Harry Kane scored late to save his team, and then they defeated Manchester United 2-0 in the EPL. Christian Eriksen struck after 11 seconds and then Tottenham pressured Manchester United into an own goal in a completely different performance than they had against Newport County, and now they’re two points behind Chelsea in the table. Tottenham also purchased winger Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain, and he could make his debut on Sunday at Liverpool in the EPL or on Wednesday at home in the FA Cup against Newport County.

6. Arsenal

EPL Title Odds: +200000

Arsenal are now six points behind Tottenham in the table after a 3-1 loss at Swansea City as Nacho Monreal continued his fine play with a goal. They picked up Aubameyang in their three-team deal with Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, and he should be in the lineup on Saturday as Arsenal hosts Everton. Arsenal are in major danger of falling out of the European spots and that would be an absolute disaster for a club of their stature.

7. Burnley

EPL Title Odds: +450000

Burnley drew 1-1 at Newcastle as they needed an own goal from Karl Darlow to do so, and now they’re seven points behind Arsenal. Burnley has a tough fixture at home with Manchester City on Saturday, but they don’t have any cups to worry about, so they can simply focus on the league. With Arsenal blowing hot and cold this season, Burnley could still wind up in the top six, which would be massive.

8. Leicester City

EPL Title Odds: +450000

Leicester City won 5-1 at Peterborough in the FA Cup as Fousseni Diabate and Kelechi Iheanacho each scored twice, along with Wilfred Ndidi. However, things went downhill from there as Leicester are a point behind Burnley after a 2-1 loss at Everton as Jamie Vardy scored from the penalty spot. More importantly, Mahrez sat out that loss as he wanted to go to Manchester City and now there are reports that he will be on strike due to the failed move. Mahrez probably won’t play on Saturday at home against Swansea City, and what was looking to be a great situation for Leicester has gone south in a hurry.

9. Everton

EPL Title Odds: +450000

Everton moved three points within Leicester City with their 2-1 win as Theo Walcott scored a pair of goals in his debut for his new club. Everton are another club that aren’t in any more competitions, and this could help them focus on the league. They could make a late run at a European spot, and that starts on Saturday in the EPL as they head to Arsenal as Walcott faces his former club for the first time.

10. Watford

EPL Title Odds: +450000

Watford fell out of the FA Cup as they lost 1-0 at Southampton, and they’re in 11th in the EPL table after a 0-0 draw at Stoke City. It might be a good thing to be out of the FA Cup as Watford can now all of their attention on the league, and they’ll host Chelsea on Monday as they try to get back on track for a run at the top half of the table.
