F1 Picks – German Grand Prix Sunday, July 20!

F1 picks:  Lewis Hamilton has had the hot hand so far this year in Formula One racing with five wins on the season but that has not been good enough, incredibly enough, to overtake first place Nico Rosberg who leads Hamilton by a slim margin of 165 to 161in the points standings after Hamilton won last week’s British Grand Prix.  What has been just as interesting is the struggles of defending and four time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel who has lost his dominant form of past seasons.  Rosberg and Vettel will head home to their native Germany this week as the German Grand Prix will take place at Hockenheimring on Sunday, July 20 with a starting time of 8 AM ET.

Hockenheimring

Hockenheimring is located in Baden – Wurtternberg, Germany and since 2002 has been a course that is 4.574 km (2.842 miles) in length with a total of 17 turns and an asphalt surface.

Standings

Nico Rosberg is in first place with 165 points, three wins and having never finished worse than second place until last week’s retirement at the British Grand Prix.

Hamilton has 161 points with five wins, a second place finish, and two retirements that have cost him first place.

Far behind Rosberg and Hamilton are Daniel Ricciardo with 98 points, Fernando Alonso with 87, Valtteri Bottas with 73, Sebastian Vettel with 70, Nico Hulkenberg with 63, Jenson Button with 55, Kevin Magnussen with 35, and Felipe Massa with 30.

Our Pick

Rosberg has been remarkably consistent and should be in fine form in his home land that is celebrating its World Cup soccer triumph.  We’ll call for Rosberg!
