Florida State News: Seminoles Game with Boise State Moved to Tallahassee

With Hurricane Dorian bearing down on the Sunshine State, Florida State and Boise State have decided to move the site of their game on Saturday. The Seminoles and Broncos were originally set to square off in somewhat neutral Jacksonville, but now the game is headed two hours west on I-10 to Tallahassee.

Tallahassee is more inland and away from the Atlantic seaboard that Hurricane Dorian is currently threatening, and Boise State should be able to get in and out of the city before Dorian makes landfall. The game was originally set to kick off at 7 p.m. ET, but to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible, the start time has been moved up to noon.

Florida State AD David Coburn released a statement in regards to the change:

“After consulting with emergency responders, law enforcement and hurricane preparedness teams at the state and local level, moving the game is the best option given the information we have at this time.

We regret having to move the venue in particular because of the tremendous work that the City of Jacksonville has invested in this event. They have been great partners, and we are disappointed that the game had to be moved.  Our fans were very much looking forward to the experience.”

All tickets for the game will be refunded, and general admission tickets for the new site are now on sale at Florida State’s website. Tickets will cost $10 today and Friday, with the price jumping to $15 on gameday. There will be no assigned seats for the game, so the atmosphere at Doak Campbell Stadium will be interesting.

With the game moving from Jacksonville to Tallahassee, sportsbooks have adjusted the spread for this game. Florida State had been -4 or -4.5 most of the week, but the Seminoles are now favored by 6.5 points.
