Florida State’s Ticket Sales Down, North Texas Adds an ASU Cornerback

No elite program has fallen as fast as Florida State over the last few seasons. The Seminoles’ vaunted bowl streak is now kaput, and ticket sales have plummeted. The university stands to miss out on several million dollars this offseason if ticket sales don’t pick up.

While things certainly look dire for Florida State, Tomahawk Nation’s Bud Elliott has stated that there are logical reasons for lagging ticket sales. In addition to the product on the field not being as good in recent seasons, just take a look at where Tallahassee lies on the map. Only one major population center (Jacksonville, Florida) is within 200 miles of Tallahassee as the crow flies, so attending a game in Tallahassee is a bigger hassle than it is with other schools.

The Mean Green are picking up a new cornerback with the hope of bolstering their secondary. Dominique Harrison’s career started at Blinn Junior College, and he played last season with Arizona State. Harrison is eligible immediately as a graduate transfer. He is the second defensive back that has come over as a graduate transfer this summer, after Nick Harvey arrived from South Carolina in June.

Finally, an arrest has been made in the car crash that claimed the life of Auburn announcer Rod Bramblett and his wife. The 16-year-old was reportedly driving more than 30 MPH over the stated speed limit of 55 MPH at the time his car struck Bramblett’s back in May. A recent toxicology report uncovered that there was marijuana in the driver’s system at the time of the crash, and the driver is being charged with manslaughter.
