Fourth athlete to pledge to an NCAA Division 1 institution is Jagger Tapper

The Okotoks Oilers made the announcement just before their last preseason game, making forward Jagger Tapper the fourth member of the club to enroll in an NCAA Division 1 post-secondary institution. Former CTV Calgary Athlete of the Week Tapper made a commitment to enroll in Troy, New York’s Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) as both a student and a player. The Division 1 ECAC Hockey of the NCAA is where the Engineers compete.

According to Oilers head coach and general manager Tyler Deis, “We couldn’t be happier for Jagger to start off his first season committed to a great program.” Jagger Tapper played last season for the U18 Calgary Flames and scored 20 goals & 31 assists. “We’ve known Jagger has the potential to be a significant impact player at this level for some time, and we’re looking forward to helping him develop into the kind of player who will impact RPI just as much,” said Tapper.
