Baseball Betting: The New York Yankees visit the Boston Red Sox on Saturday in a game that will be shown on FS1. It has been a lost season for the defending World Series champs as the Red Sox are in last place in the American League East. On the other side, the Yankees are still very much in the race for the division or a possible Wild Card. It should be a couple of young pitchers going on Saturday with Shane Greene going for New York while Alan Webster starts for Boston. Here is a look at the game and free baseball picks.
Probable Pitchers – Greene vs. Webster
Shane Greene has been solid for the Yankees this season with a 2-1 record and a 3.28 ERA. He pitched okay last time out against Toronto as he allowed just three runs in 5.1 innings. The concern with Greene is that he is not pitching deep into games as he has not made it out of the fifth inning in his last two starts.
Allen Webster has been put into the starting rotation for now. He was pretty good in his first start as he allowed two runs and three hits in a win over the Tampa Bay Rays. He has thrown only one inning in his career against the Yankees. Webster is taking the rotation spot of Jake Peavy and he sure can’t be any worse than Peavy was when he was getting a start every fifth day.
Yankees vs. Red Sox Series
The Yankees had taken six of the last ten in this series before it began. They had struggled a bit in Boston lately though as they had lost four of the last six. Normally when these two teams meet in Boston the games are high scoring but both teams are struggling offensively this season so betting the over is no guarantee.
