Spread -1.5: Lyon -102; Lille +100

LYON

The Kids had another demolition job in the previous round of the French Ligue 1, beating Nice, 5:0, on the road to get their eighth victory of the season, third with a five-goal margin. It was a one-way traffic at Allianz Riviera, as Lyon bagged four goals in the first 45 minutes, while they were focused to keep the clean sheet until the end of the game. The Kids are undefeated for eight Ligue 1 matches in a row, while they didn’t concede a goal in the previous five games.

After the first 14 rounds of the French Ligue 1 Lyon is in the second spot of the table with 29 points, a 37:15 goal difference, and an 8-5-1 record, nine points behind the leader Paris SG. They have recorded four victories and three draws at home with a 17:9 goal difference, while they have earned 14 points on the road with a 20:6 goal difference and a 4-2-1 record.

The 24-year old attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir is the team’s leading scorer in the French Ligue 1 with 11 goals in 11 appearances this season, adding three assists to his name. The 24-year old striker Mariano Diaz bagged 10 goals in 14 apps, while the winger Memphis Depay scored eight goals in 13 matches, including two goals against Nice last weekend. The 22-year old right-back Kenny Tete, who arrived from Ajax this summer, is the team’s best assist-maker with four dishes in 11 games this season.

The manager Bruno Genesio is surely pleased with his team’s recent form, and for the next match against Lille, he can count on all players, besides the winger Bertrand Traore who’s sidelined due to a twisted knee.

LILLE

Lille’s fans had another nightmare last weekend when their beloved club was easily beaten by Montpellier, 3:0, with all three goals in the first half an hour of the match. The Great Danes put on a miserable performance once more, recording the second defeat in a row, fourth in the previous six Ligue 1 games, along with two wins against Metz and Saint Etienne.

Lille is sitting at the 19th spot of the French Ligue 1 table after the first 14 rounds with 12 points, a 12:22 goal difference and a 3-3-8 record. They have earned eight points in front of the home fans with an 8:10 goal difference and a 2-2-3 record, while on the road they have recorded one win, one draw, and five losses with a 4:12 goal difference. Lyon is having an awful season so far, and in 71% of their games, The Kids have conceded the opening goal.

The 22-year old forward Nicolas Pepe, who arrived this summer from Angers, is leading his team with three goals and one assist in 12 appearances, while the 25-year old defensive midfielder Thiago Mendes bagged two goals in eight matches this season. The 22-year old winger Anwar El Ghazi is the team’s top assistant with three dishes in 14 appearances, also adding one goal to his name.

The manager Marcelo Bielsa doesn’t have any injury worries among the squad, so he can field his best eleven against Lyon on Wednesday evening.

LYON vs. LILLE – Match Prediction

The Kids are in a brilliant form and I expect to see them winning this one with a bigger margin, as the visitors are playing poorly, particularly at the defensive end.

MY PICK: Lyon AH -1.5 (-102)

METZ vs. MARSEILLE

3-Way: 1: Metz +600; X: +370 Draw; 2: Marseille -161 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread +1: Metz +106; Marseille -108

Total +3: Over +125; Under -130

METZ

In the previous round of the French Ligue 1, Metz put on another disastrous performance in front of the home fans, as they were beaten by Amiens, 2:0. It was their seventh defeat in seven games on the home soil, and the seventh loss in the previous eight rounds of the French Ligue 1, along with a nil-nil draw with Toulouse in the 13th round.

After the first 14 rounds of the French Ligue 1 Metz is sitting at the bottom of the table with four points, a 5:26 goal difference, and a 1-1-12 record, ten points behind Strasbourg in the safe 17th spot. They have earned all their four points on the road with a 2:9 goal difference and their only victory was against Angers, 1:0, in the sixth round.

The 29-year old striker Nolan Roux, who arrived from Saint Etienne this summer, is a team’s leading scorer with three goals in 14 appearances, while the striker Emmanuel Riviere and a defender Fallou Diagne added one goal each thus far. The 29-year old winger Mathieu Dossevi is the best assist-maker with four dishes in 10 matches this season.

The temporary manager Sylvain Marchal will certainly try to shake things a bit, but we’ll see for how long he’ll stay at the helm. For the next match against Marseille, he can pick up his best eleven, as there are no injury problems among the Metz’s squad.

MARSEILLE

The Olympians continued with good displays in the French Ligue 1 this season, as they’ve beaten Guingamp at home, 1:0, in the previous round, recording their eighth victory of the season, third in the last five Ligue 1 matches. They are unbeaten for nine consecutive Ligue 1 games, and in the previous ten matches in all competitions, The Olympians suffered just one defeat against Vitoria Guimaraes on the road, 1:0, in the UEFA Europa League Round 4.

After the first 14 rounds of the French Ligue 1, Marseille is in the fourth place with 28 points, a 28:18 goal difference, and an 8-4-2 record, one point behind Monaco and Lyon, and ten points behind the leader Paris SG. At home, they have earned 14 points with a 4-2-1 record and a 15:6 goal difference, while they have the identical record on the road, but with a 13:12 goal difference. The Olympians have managed to score in each of the last 14 Ligue 1 games, and they’ve bagged at least a goal in each of their seven matches away from home.

The 24-year old winger Florian Thauvin is playing in a tremendous form so far, and he is a team’s leader with six goals and five dishes in 14 appearances. The striker Clinton N’Jie and a midfielder Morgan Sanson added five goals each, while the winger Lucas Ocampos scored four goals in ten apps this season. The 30-year old French star Dimitri Payet added one goal and four assists to his name in nine games thus far, but his form is pretty poor in the last couple of weeks.

The manager Rudi Garcia doesn’t have any serious injury worriers, so he can field his best eleven against Metz.

METZ vs. MARSEILLE – Match Prediction

Marseille is playing well on the road this season with some minor defensive problems. It could be a chance for poor Metz to score at home, but I think they’ll need a lot of fortune to get a positive result in this one.

MY PICK: Marseille to Win

ADDITIONAL PICK: Both Teams to Score YES (-115)
