Gaming News: Rocket League Season 2, WWE 2K16, Madden 16

Rocket League Season 2 Details Revealed
Developer Psyonix has scheduled a new patch for Rocket League to hit in 2015 that will wrap up the first season of ranked play and start the second. To end the first season, players will receive a crown as a topper for their cars. The crown will be the color of the player’s highest division rank. For example, I am ranked “Silver I” in Singles and Doubles, so I will receive a silver crown.

There will be a lot of new items included in the patch, including community flags like GameSpot, and even a Deadmau5 topper and antenna. Along with these new items is a new “quality” system. Grey indicates Common, or items that cam with the base version of the game. Green represents Premium, which includes all DLC items, and orange includes all seasonal items. There are also new Uncommon items, and the chance of receiving these items will increase the longer you play.

WWE and 2K Reach Multi-Year Extension; “Future Stars” DLC Issues
Take-Two, the parent company for video game publisher 2K, acquired the rights to the WWE video game series in 2013 when previous publisher, THQ, filed for bankruptcy. After publishing WWE 2K14, 2K split the developing tasks between Yuke’s, a longtime developer for the series, and 2K’s Visual Concepts studio, which led to a complete rebuilding of the game. After the success of WWE 2K15 and 2K16, as well as hit mobile card game WWE SuperCard, WWE felt that this was a profitable relationship to continue.

While 2K got some good news with the new deal, there has been a lot of trouble with their latest “Future Stars” DLC (Downloadable Content) pack for WWE 2K16. After downloading the pack, Playstation 4 and Xbox One users have experienced their Universe Mode saves getting corrupted. 2K recommends that PS4 and Xbox One users wait until further notice to download the DLC pack. However, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions work just fine.

EA Announces Its Next Title for EA Access: Madden 16
Xbox One owners have had the benefit of being able to sign up for publisher Electronic Arts’s EA Access program. This program lets players purchase digital EA titles earlier than non-members, and for 10% cheaper as well. Arguably one of the best features of the program is the fact that members can play over a dozen games for free from the “vault”. The newest game to be added to the vault is Madden 16, the most recent title in the series.

Madden 16 released on August 25, 2015 and made significant improvements over previous entries in the series. After Madden 15 added the ability to time the snap on the defensive line, Madden 16 includes more options for the players on offense and defense. On offense, they have includes the Touch Pass, as well as different catching options. Depending on what button you press as a receiver, the player will either focus on an aggressive catch, possession of the ball, or running after the catch. Defenders have similar options between going for the interception or playing to the receiver.

Madden NFL 16 is out now for Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, and will enter the EA Access vault on February 2nd.
