Genesis Open Daily Fantasy Lineup

The PGA Tour will shift across California to the Pacific Palisades and the Riviera Country Club for this week’s Genesis Open. Formerly known as the Northern Trust Open, Bubba Watson has won this tournament in two of the past three years and while his sports betting odds to win this event again have been downgraded we will consider that an opportunity to make him a value play as one of the key pieces in our DraftKings lineup. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA fantasy competitions for the Genesis Open.

Dustin Johnson, $11,400

It feels like it’s only a matter of time before Johnson breaks through with a tournament win and there is a very good chance it happens this week in California. Johnson’s first career victory came at Riviera and he has produced top-10 finishes in two of his last three starts in the United States. Driving Distance will be a major key at this week’s event so Johnson’s skill set is perfectly suited for success at the Genesis Open. D.J. is definitely worth the investment as the most expensive player on our board.

Justin Thomas, $9,600

Thomas won three of his first four tournaments to open 2017 so while he was bound to slow down eventually we still like his chances for a strong performance this week. Thomas missed the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open but he has had a couple of weeks to rest and regain his focus heading in to this week’s event.  Thomas has shown his immense potential already in 2017 and at under $10K he is worth the investment in this spot here.

Bubba Watson, $8,300

Any time a golfer that won a specific tournament in two of the last three years is listed at under $9K in a DraftKings competition it’s worth taking a close look. Watson is coming off a disappointing missed cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open but he had registered a pair of top-25 finishes at the Hero World Challenge and SBS Tournament of Champions before that and should be well rested heading in to this event. Watson has the pedigree and resume to win this tournament outright so at just $8.3K he should be a lock in every DraftKings lineup.

Brendan Steele, $7,100

Steele will likely be a popular option this week but at $7.1K it’s impossible to overlook him as well. Steele opened the season with a win at the Safeway Open and has followed it up with six straight made cuts including a top-20 finish in each of his four starts in 2017. His price tag on DraftKings is still a lot lower than it should be so it makes sense to use Steele as another obvious value pick at the Genesis Open.

Tony Finau, $6,800

Finau followed up a disappointing missed cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open with a top-25 finish at last week’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am and we expect another strong performance out of him this week in California. Finau has registered top-25 finishes in four of his last five starts including a pair of top-10’s at the SBS Tournament of Champions and the Farmers Insurance Open so he makes for an excellent value pick this week.

Adam Hadwin, $6,600

Hadwin has bounced around a little bit since his runner-up finish at the CareerBuilder Challenge with a top-12 finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open sandwiched between top-50 finishes at the Farmers Insurance Open and Pebble Beach Pro Am. He was one of our favorite go-tos earlier in the year as he finished in the Top 27 in four of his first five starts this year – including a second-place result at the CareerBuilder. However, he’s cooled off a little bit of late. He was 49th at the Farmers Insurance tournament and was 39th last week at the Pebble Beach Pro Am. Hadwin has the skill set to deliver a strong performance this week but he needs to prove he can remain focused and deliver the consistency required. At just $6.6K, Hadwin is definitely worth taking a chance on as a strong value pick for this week’s DraftKings competitions.
