Gerald McCoy Sounds Off and Washington’s Expensive Offense

Gerald McCoy signed with the Carolina Panthers two weeks ago, and he had some harsh words for his former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on FS1’s show Undisputed yesterday afternoon. McCoy felt disrespected by Tampa Bay after the team signed Ndamukong Suh to replace him and then immediately gave Suh his former number. McCoy was a Buccaneer for nine seasons and made the Pro Bowl six times.

Which team do you think has the most expensive offense in the league? Green Bay? Pittsburgh? New Orleans? You may be stunned to discover that the answer is Washington. The Redskins are shelling out a lot of money to their offensive line and a quarterback that might not play this season in Alex Smith. Smith has a cap number of over $20 million, while Brandon Scherff and Trent Williams are each set to make more than $11 million this year.

Andrew Hawkins has been one of the best NFL players turned analysts in recent years. Hawkins has been a staple on ESPN networks for about two years, but now he is making a move to another network. He agreed to join NFL Network for this upcoming season, and former colleagues at the Worldwide Leader have been sending ‘Hawk’ well-wishes. Hawkins was a wide receiver in the NFL for six full seasons and played for the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL before that.

At least one NFL columnist is giving Aaron Donald the love he deserves. Pete Prisco put Donald at the top of his list of the best 100 players in the NFL, and it’s hard to argue that he doesn’t deserve it after his first five seasons in the league. Donald has been named a First Team All-Pro for four straight seasons, and the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive tackle has been the Defensive Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons. His 20.5 sacks and 25 tackles for loss in 2018 are incredible numbers for an interior lineman and showcase his dominance.
