GERMAN BUNDESLIGA – Two Match Preview (Round 6)

Bundesliga

Here we have prepared for you the two-match analysis of an upcoming week 6 Bundesliga matchups that will take place on Saturday in Bremen and Stuttgart between home teams and their opponents from Freiburg and Augsburg.

Only double-header article of the round 6 in German Bundesliga features showdowns between Werder Bremen team that is coming off from a 1:1 road draw against Wolfsburg and Sc Freiburg that managed to stay undefeated against one of the hottest teams in the league right now, Hannover 96.

The second matchup takes place in Stuttgart between the hosts that are coming off from a midweek defeat in Monchengladbach and one of the biggest surprises of the first part of the season FC Augsburg team that managed to take down RB Leipzig at home on Tuesday. It’s time to get your piggy bank some input so let’s take a closer look.

SV Werder Bremen vs. SC Freiburg

Three-Way: 1: SV Werder Bremen -118; X: +313 Draw; 2: SC Freiburg +380

Spread -0.5: SV Werder Bremen -125; SC Freiburg +123

Total +3: Over +110; Under -115

SV WERDER BREMEN

The SV Werder Bremen team is recording one of the worst starts of the Bundesliga season lately as they still don’t have a victory in their account. Their record so far is 0-2-3 and they have two points earned so far that place them at No. 17 spot with only FC Koln that doesn’t have any points won behind them.

They’ve recorded two losses in two home games so far against Bayern Munich in week 2 (1:2) and against Schalke 04 in week 4 (1:2). Team’s overall goal difference is 3-7 and four of their five matches so far (80%) had fewer than 2.5 goals in total. In 60% of their games, both teams scored and they still don’t have a game when they didn’t concede at least one goal. If they want to avoid the “battle for survival” type of season they’ll have to wake up soon and regroup their ranks.

Max Kruse (collarbone) should be back in mid-November while Zlatko Junuzovic (Achilles tendon) should be back until the end of the month. Justin Eilers’s (cruciate ligament) timetable for return is set to January next year while Thomas Delaney (knee), Ludovic Sane (knee) and Niklas Moisander (thigh) are all listed as doubtful for Saturday. Eric Oelschlagel’s (elbow) status is unknown.

 SC FREIBURG

Along with their next opponent and FC Koln, the SC Freiburg team is the only squad that doesn’t have a win in the Bundesliga so far with three draw and two defeats. Round 5 draw against undefeated Hannover 96 team can be considered as a success especially if we take into the consideration the fact that they managed to avoid the loss with an equalizer by Petersen seven minutes before the final whistle. Two points earned so far are enough for No. 16 spot in the Bundesliga table that puts them right below the relegation line.

Their overall goal difference is 2-9 (1-8 on the road) and every single away duel had over 3.5 goals in total. In 40% of their total games both teams scored and in one game so far they managed to concede at least one goal in both halves. Nils Petersen and Florian Niederlechner are the only two players that managed to get themselves on the scoreboard with one goal each so far.

Yoric Ravet is suspended for two more matches while Amir Abrashi (ankle) and Manuel Gulde (back) should be ready in a few weeks. Marc-Olivier Kempf (muscle) is expected to be available in early October while Vincent Sierro’s (muscle) and Jonas Meffert’s (foot) status is unknown. Georg Niedermeier (back) is back in training.

SV Werder Bremen vs. SC Freiburg – Match Prediction

This is the week when one of these two teams will finally record a victory but the big question is which one. My money will go on the home team because I think that home field advantage will have a crucial role in this matchup. Still, I expect Freiburg to score at least one goal meaning that both teams score and over 2.5 goals in total also sound good.

My pick: SV Werder Bremen (-118)

Additional pick: Both teams score (-149)

VfB Stuttgart vs. FC Augsburg

Three-Way: 1: VfB Stuttgart +129; X: +260 Draw; FC Augsburg +268

Spread -0.5: VfB Stuttgart +122; FC Augsburg -125

Total +2.5: Over -103; Under +100

 VFB STUTTGART

The VfB Stuttgart team is playing like Hertha BSC did last year, perfect at home and awful on the road. The team currently ranks at No. 12 spot in the German Bundesliga table with 6 total points earned and 3-7 goal difference. They have two wins so far, both at home, and three losses that all occurred on the road. An interesting fact is that they haven’t yet conceded a goal in front of their own crowd while scoring two.

Only one of five Stuttgart’s matchups had over 2.5 goals in total and both teams scored 33% of their road games. They have an average of 0.60 goals scored and 1.40 goals conceded per match. Chadrac Akolo tops the team in scoring with two goals so far while Holger Badstuber has one in his account so far.

Emiliano Insua (knee) should be ready in early November while Carlos Mane (knee) should be available next month. Christian Gentner’s (head) and Matthias Zimmermann’s (cruciate ligament) status is unknown while Holger Badstuber (groin) is listed as doubtful for Saturday. Daniel Ginczek (knee) and Anto Grgic (ankle) are day to day.

FC AUGSBURG

Things looked grim after first two weeks of play for FC Augsburg’s fans as they were winless with a season-opening loss at Hamburger SV (0:1) and home draw against Monchengladbach (2:2) but then came the international break and coach Manuel Baum managed to regroup his team and now they rank at No. 5 spot in the Bundesliga table with 10 total points earned and three consecutive victories. FC Koln, Eintracht Frankfurt, and RB Leipzig have been outplayed and outscored in last three rounds propelling the team into the top part of the Bundesliga caravan.

Team’s goal difference is 8-4 (2-2 on the road) and 60% of their overall matchups had over 2.5 goals in total while one of those games had over 2.5 goals in total at half-time. Alfred Finnbogason tops the team in scoring with four goals so far.

Tim Rieder’s (knee) status is unknown while Raphael Framberger (knee), Georg Tiegl (back) and Moritz Leitner (ankle) are all listed as doubtful for Saturday’s clash. Marvin Friedrich’s muscle injury proved to be much more serious than it was initially thought and he is still listed as day to day.

VfB Stuttgart vs. FC Augsburg – Match Prediction.

VfB Stuttgart is 100% at home and FC Augsburg is riding a three-game winning streak. All this sounds like a draw to me and that will be my initial pick. On the other side under 2.5 goals in total also makes a lot of sense because 1:1 final result presents a most probable outcome.

My pick: Draw X (+260)

Additional pick: Under 2.5 goals (+100)
