The New York Giants opened training camp at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, with on-site coverage from Giants reporter Jordan Raanan. Raanan said the reporting team will update this file frequently through the start of the preseason on Aug. 13.
Raanan reported that wide receiver Malik Nabers practiced with teammates for the first time since his knee injury, though he was not integrated into the offense during team drills.
Quarterback Jaxson Dart and the offense drew positive notice. Dart completed 17 of 24 passes, a line that included three spikes and a drop by tight end Theo Johnson. Dart said, “Offense played at a really high level,” after the first full practice.
Slot receiver Braxton Berrios emerged as a primary standout. Raanan wrote that Berrios caught five passes in live drills, including a long touchdown from Jameis Winston, in what the reporter called a strong start as Berrios competes for a role as a wide receiver and returner. Odell Beckham Jr. did not catch a pass during live work, but Raanan noted Beckham appeared crisp running routes early and received praise from coach John Harbaugh.
Raanan also detailed the kicking competition. Rookie Dominic Zvada made four of six field-goal attempts, while second-year kicker Ben Sauls converted five of seven. Raanan reported Sauls’ final attempt traveled 61 yards but fell wide right.
