Golf Fantasy: Scottish Open Daily Fantasy Lineup

Immense flooding in the White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia area led to the cancellation of The Greenbrier Classic this week and left the Scottish Open as the final event before The Open Championship begins a week from this Thursday. DraftKings adjusted to the cancellation of the Greenbrier by replacing it with fantasy tournaments for the Scottish Open, which takes place this week at the Castle Stuart Golf Links in Inverness, Scotland. Here is a look at our optimal lineup for this week’s European golf DraftKings tournaments.

Branden Grace, $11,600

The most difficult aspect of creating a winning fantasy lineup for this week’s DraftKings tournaments is the disparity in price and talent between the top players in the middle tier. As much as we would have loved to have Henrik Stenson as the top priced player on the board the reality is that he simply isn’t worth it at over $12K. Grace is the better fit at almost $1K less. He has registered four top-10 finishes in his last five starts and is exactly the type of outstanding links player that should thrive at an event like the Scottish Open.

Chris Wood, $10,000

Wood has placed 11th or better in each of his last three starts on the European Tour including a win at the BMW PGA Championship just over a month ago so he should be in excellent form heading in to this week’s event. The fact that he is available at just $10K makes him slightly more appealing than some of the other golfers that we considered slotting in to this spot.

Ross Fisher, $7,700

There might be a major drop off in price tag here following our top two picks but Fisher should be just as strong of a play as Grace and Wood at this week’s event. He is coming in to the Scottish Open in excellent form and he has made the cut at each of his three starts at this event. Fisher might not get the attention that the top players on the board receive this week but that only makes him that much stronger of a sleeper value option.

Gregory Bourdy, $7,600

Bourdy might very well be the best value on the board this week at just $7.6K, which is a ridiculously low price for a golfer that has placed in the top 25 in each of his last five starts. Remember, at this price range, you’re typically looking at guys who will barely make the cut, so Bourdy offers a solid option. He comes in with plenty of momentum.

He has yet to break through at this tournament but he has made the cut in all three of his Scottish Open starts. We’re banking on him doing the same once more. His recent form suggests he could be on the verge of breaking through with another memorable outing this week.

Raphael Jacquelin, $6,900

The disparity in price tags forced us to get creative when it came to filling out our lineup but the fact that we were able to slot in Jacquelin as one of our final two plays made us very confident in our decision. The 42-year-old has made eight of his last 10 cuts including top-10 finishes in two of his last three starts and he will be an absolute steal if he continues that trend at the Scottish Open this week.

Colin Montgomerie, $6,100

Montgomerie represents the lowest priced player we have ever plugged in for a DraftKings tournament but the selection could pay off big time if he plays to his potential at the Scottish Open this week. Montgomerie actually owns the second-best Scrambling percentage in the field and while he missed the cut in his last start at this course there is enough promise with this pick to make him worth reaching for as a deep sleeper option. The disparity in price tags for this week’s field isn’t easy to navigate but a strong performance from Montgomerie could pay off big time as the final piece in our DraftKings lineup.
