Golf Undigested – Episode 39

Golf Undigested Congratulates Justin Thomas for his 59

The Golf Undigested Podcast with Clark Burroughs, a former PGA Tour player and proud Ohio State Buckeye, dishes out his latest news and musings in the world of golf. For all the latest golf odds and predictions, never miss an episode of Burroughs’ insightful advice and hilarious observations into the greatest game of all, GOLF!

Burroughs starts Podcast #39 by discussing last week’s action where Justin Thomas won for the second week in a row by shooting a record 59 in the first round and blitzed the field. Thomas also set the 36-hole record, the 54-hole record and his total score of 253 was also a record. On the other side of the pond on the European Tour, Graeme Storm beat Rory McIlroy in a sudden death three-hole playoff. It was the second win for the 39-year old in his career.

Burroughs talks about last week’s golf picks which were 5-1- 1, making the year-to- date picks 9-2- 3. Our host discusses this week’s action on all the tours across the world. The Champions Tour gets underway in Hawaii. The European Tour starts the “desert swing” at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the PGA Tour heads back to the mainland to La Quinta, California for the CareerBuilder Challenge.

Bill Haas +2000 is a two-time winner of this event and consistently plays well on a weekly basis. The former Wake Forest star loves playing in the desert where he’s churned out 39 straight rounds under par.

He also is in good form with four top 20’s in his last four starts. Haas is a great play in all formats this week.

LONG SHOT: Brandon Stone +7500 makes a rare start on the PGA Tour. The young South African plays regularly on the European Tour but was given a sponsors exemption this week. Stone has won twice across the pond and is a sneaky pick this week. At +7500, he’s worth taking the chance.

Keep your eye on Aaron Wise this week. He is a rookie on Tour and can flat out play. Wise won the NCAA tournament a year ago and will make good on his sponsor’s exemption this week.

TV Coverage CareerBuilder Challenge: Golf Channel – Thursday-Sunday, 3-7 p.m. ET

Our host wraps up Podcast #39 by talking to an old buddy of his, Adam Spring who shares some hilarious golf stories about playing with legend Bernhard Langer and other tour professionals.
