Green Bay Packers at New York Jets Betting Preview

New York is entering this game as the underdog and is currently getting 1 point. The Packers are also receiving -115 moneyline odds while the Jets are -105. Vegas has placed the over/under (O/U) at 45 points. On the surface it looks like this contest ought to have some live betting opportunities.

With the game’s O/U set initially at 46, sharp bettors tend to be siding with the under.

The less-than-stellar Packers are 5-8-1 against the spread (ATS) and are down 11.1 units so far. The team has recorded an Over-Under mark of 7-7. The Jets are down 6.4 units this season. The team is 5-8-1 ATS and the over has hit in nine of its games.

The Packers have gone 5-8-1 straight up (SU) in 2018 while the Jets are 4-10 SU.

The Packers fell to Chicago 24-17 in a Week 15 matchup where Aaron Rodgers completed 25-of-42 passes for 274 yards and one interception. Jamaal Williams (55 rushing yards on 12 attempts, one TD) led the ground attack while Davante Adams (eight receptions, 119 yards) and Williams (four catches, 42 yards) handled the receiving duties in the defeat.

New York just fell 29-22 to Houston a week ago. Sam Darnold completed 24-of-38 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns. Elijah McGuire (42 yards on 18 rush attempts, one TD) mounted the running game while Robby Anderson (seven receptions, 96 yards, one TD) and Cannon (three catches, 24 yards) led the receiving corps in the loss.

Green Bay has run the ball on 35.5 percent of its offensive possessions this year while New York has an overall rush percentage of 44.3 percent. The Packers have rushed for 107 yards/game and have 11 scores on the ground this year. The Jets are totaling 105 rush yards per game and have 10 total rushing TDs.

If 2018 numbers are any indication, then it seems like the Jets might have the more disruptive lines up front. Their offensive line has yielded just 31 sacks while the D-line has registered 34 sacks. The Packers offensive line has allowed 46 sacks and their defense has sacked opposing signal-callerss on just 41 occasions.

The Packers offense has logged 288 yards/game in the air overall and has 23 passing TDs so far. The Jets have recorded 207 pass yards per outing and have 15 total pass scores.

Green Bay has let opponents run for an average of 124 yards and pass for 247 yards per game. The New York defense has given up 261.9 yards per game to opposing passers and 125.9 yards per game on the ground. Both teams allow similar adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) to the opposition, as the Packers have given up an ANY/A of 6.64 to opposing QBs, while the Jets are yielding an ANY/A of 6.22.

Passing-wise, Rodgers has put up 3,778 yards on the year, and has connected on 311-of-505 attempts with 21 scores through the air and only two interceptions. He has a 7.03 adjusted net yards per pass attempt overall, although that number is 4.72 over the last two games.

In the other huddle, Sam Darnold has managed to complete 183-of-327 passes for 2,187 yards, 13 TDs and 14 INTs. Darnold’s ANY/A stands at a less-than-ideal 4.74 for the season and 6.35 over his last two games.
