Hamilton and Rosberg Expected to Dominate Again at Canadian Grand Prix

F1 Odds: The Mercedes domination is expected to continue in the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, June 8th. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg have finished first and second in every race except the first one of the season. Hamilton has four wins on the season while Rosberg has two. Let’s look at the seventh race of the Formula One season, the Canadian Grand Prix and F1 predictions.

Hamilton and Rosberg

Lewis Hamilton is about a -190 favorite to win the Canadian Grand Prix while Nico Rosberg is +165. Everyone else is listed as part of the field. The constructor’s race is really over as Mercedes has a dominating lead and the driver’s race is a two-man race with Rosberg holding a four point lead. The only question is whether the budding feud between the two will cause problems as the season progresses.

Ferrari Making Engine Changes

The Canadian Grand Prix will mark the first race for their engines after aggressive settings have been put in place. “On the engine side, the only changes that you are allowed to make to hardware are for reliability so there is no opportunity for performance there.” Ferrari technical director James Allison said. “But there is a lot of opportunity to get more horsepower out of the same hardware as you increase your confidence in how hard you can push it. That happens continuously and we do have a step in that direction coming in Canada.”

F1 Standings

Nico Rosberg leads the F1 standings with 122 points while Hamilton is in second with 118 points. Fernando Alonso is in third with 61 points. In the constructor’s race it is Mercedes with 240 points with Red Bull in second with 98 while Ferrari is in third with 78.

F1 Predictions

Despite the improvements from Ferrari it is hard to see any team challenging the top two. They dominated at Monaco on a track that was seen as one where power was not as important. That won’t be the case in Canada. I will take Hamilton at -185 in F1 odds to win the Canadian Grand Prix.
