Illinois Fighting Illini – Maryland Terrapins Preview – 03.03.2016

The No. 14-ranked Maryland Terrapins (23-6) and the Illinois Fighting Illini (13-16) finish out the regular season when they face off at Xfinity Center. Action begins at 7:00 pm ET on Thursday, Mar. 3 and can be seen on ESP and ES3.

The Terrapins lost to Purdue 83-79 the last time they played. Melo Trimble was the team’s leading scorer with 19 points. The Fighting Illini are coming off an 84-71 win against Minnesota in their last outing. Malcolm Hill had a good game, accounting for 22 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Scoring opportunities from the charity stripe may be sporadic for the Fighting Illini in this one. They’re 293rd in the nation in FTA rate (32.1), while Maryland is among the nation’s least foul-prone teams (yielding a rate of 26.8, ranking 14th overall).
