Inter Milan are working on a deal to sign Curtis Jones from Liverpool this summer, Fabrizio Romano reports. The Serie A club has opened talks with the Premier League champions over the proposed transfer of the 25-year-old, who is said to be Inter’s primary midfield target.
Jones is reported to be receptive to a move after falling down the pecking order at Anfield under coach Arne Slot. Inter’s opening bid of €20 million is regarded by Liverpool as insufficient, and a club-to-club agreement is not thought to be imminent.
Liverpool have already bid farewell to Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson this summer, and sources told ESPN that Ibrahima Konaté is set to leave the club on a free transfer.
Manchester United are on the shortlist for AC Milan winger Rafael Leão, according to Football Insider. Milan are prepared to let Leão depart for a fee below the previously mooted £43 million after failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The Portugal international has scored nine goals in 29 Serie A appearances this season and is set to feature at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
Other transfer developments include reports that Real Madrid will make Nico Paz’s return official after the club’s presidential elections, according to Diario AS. COPE reports Barcelona are pursuing Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol, while Sky Sports says Villarreal have submitted a bid for Wales midfielder Jordan James.
Bernardo Silva is said by The Times to prefer a move to Barcelona after leaving Manchester City, though Atlético Madrid and Benfica have also shown interest. The Times adds Barcelona can offer Silva an £80,000-per-week salary, and sources told ESPN this week that Silva remains a “real option” for the Catalan club, which has already signed Anthony Gordon this summer.
