It turns out all the rumors of a rift between New York Jets head coach Adam Gase and general manager Mike Maccagnan were true. Everything came to a head Wednesday when the Jets hit the eject button on Maccagnan and slid Gase in as their acting GM. New York had to eat the final two years of Maccagnan’s contract. Vice President of Personnel Brian Heimerdinger was also given the boot.

So what caused the rift between Gase and Maccagnan?

Apparently the biggest issue was Maccagnan’s offseason spending spree that brought in running back Le’Veon Bell and linebacker C.J. Mosley. Both quality players, obviously, but New York is now on the hook for $52.5 million on Bell and $85 million on Mosley. According to NFL.com, Gase thought those price tags were just too high.

Patriots might bring back Jamie Collins

Three years after trading him to the Cleveland Browns, the New England Patriots are in talks to bring back linebacker Jamie Collins as a free agent. Last year Collins had 104 tackles, 13 for a loss, four sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
