As Major League Baseball reaches the halfway point of the 2026 season, ESPN examined the single biggest strength for each of the top 16 teams in last week’s power rankings, noting the season’s unusual parity. FanGraphs projects 24 teams with at least a 13% chance of making the postseason, with 20 of those at 20% or higher, according to ESPN and FanGraphs.

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ greatest asset is their rotation depth, ESPN reports. The club leads the majors with a 3.15 rotation ERA and 43 quality starts, even as Blake Snell has made one start and Tyler Glasnow seven. Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto have been front-line contributors, and Justin Wrobleski is 8-2 with a 2.72 ERA. ESPN also noted Wrobleski ranks 126th of 139 pitchers with at least 50 innings in strikeout rate and that his peripheral numbers — including a 15th percentile figure for limiting hard contact and a below-average ground-ball rate — suggest his results are an outlier. The Dodgers have Snell and Glasnow on the injured list and continue to monitor options such as Roki Sasaki, River Ryan and Eric Lauer, per ESPN.

Atlanta’s primary strength is its back end of the bullpen, ESPN wrote. The Braves lead the majors in win probability added from the bullpen, paced by Raisel Iglesias (1.48 ERA, 15-for-15 in save chances), Robert Suarez (0.56 ERA) and Dylan Lee (1.08 ERA), with rookie Didier Fuentes also contributing (2.45 ERA). That group has allowed four homers in 118 innings while holding opponents to a .187 average. ESPN cautioned the current peak may not be sustainable at the exact same level but called it an excellent late-game unit. Dylan Lee, the lone left-hander among the core relievers, averages a 93.3 mph fastball and a slider with a 43% whiff rate; ESPN noted he is an extreme fly-ball pitcher who allowed 13 homers last season but has kept the ball in the park this year.

Milwaukee’s edge, according to ESPN, is timely offense. The Brewers sit 46-29 and first in the NL Central in ESPN’s Week 12 rankings, and while Jacob Misiorowski, Kyle Harrison and Aaron Ashby have anchored the pitching staff with a combined 24-5 mark, the team is notable for its scoring profile: tied for 27th in home runs yet second in runs per game and fourth in batting average, ESPN reported.
