La Liga Fantasy: Week 5 Lineup

The La Liga season continues with four games on the schedule for this Saturday. However, DraftKings has elected to ignore the early game between Granada and Leganes completely when it comes to its La Liga fantasy tournaments, which leaves us with only three games to work with. That means lesser room for error when it comes to building a winning lineup in fantasy so you will have to make the most of every individual pick. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings La Liga fantasy leagues.

GK: Javi Varas, Las Palmas

Salary: $4,800

Las Palmas has impressed early on this season with 12 points through six games and now they get a very favorable matchup against an Osasuna side that has yet to win a game. Varas should be in a favorable situation to pick up a clean sheet victory as the clear favorite to be the best goalkeeper in this matchup. Las Palmas has not been particularly strong at the back end but we’ll trust them here. They’ve allowed 11 goals in six games; only six teams have allowed more goals than them so far.

D: Gabriel Mercado, Sevilla

Salary: $4,300

Mercado has done a solid job for Sevilla early on and we will bank on that trend continuing this weekend when they play Alaves. Mercado is still available for a reasonable $4.3K and the combination of his talent and his DraftKings price tag make him the perfect fit in our lineup.

D: Michel Macedo, Las Palmas

Salary: $4,000

The Las Palmas defense core will be dealing with some injuries heading in to this game so there will be more pressure on Macedo to perform. Macedo should have no problem putting up one of the better fantasy scores at his position for Saturday and his price tag is low enough to consider him in this spot.

M: Jonathan Viera, Las Palmas

Salary: $8,400

Viera has been among Las Palmas’ best fantasy contributors early on this season and his price tag definitely makes him worth taking a chance on in this spot. Viera should have no problem adding to his point total on Saturday so he is worth locking in as our top midfield option.

M: Pablo Sarabia, Sevilla

Salary: $6,500

Sarabia isn’t the highest priced option available on the Sevilla roster, but he is their leading fantasy scorer regardless of position through their first six games. We will bank on his production continuing this weekend as he leads Sevilla versus Alaves. Sevilla has been a strong offensive team so far this season as they’ve managed to score 11 times in six games. Only three other teams have managed to score more goals than them to this point.

F: Duje Cop, Sporting Gijon

Salary: $7,100

Cop has led the way up front for a Sporting Gijon team that surprised early on and with a favorable matchup versus Deportivo that trend could very well continue. Cop isn’t as expensive as some of the other top options as the board but he could definitely be one of the top producers in La Liga fantasy this weekend.

F: Tana, Las Palmas

Salary: $6,800

Tana is another very intriguing play that combines awesome skill with price point to create the perfect opportunity. Tana is still available at under $7K so make sure to grab him this weekend in contests where there won’t be any better options for the second forward spot. Las Palmas has been one of the bigger surprises both in terms of the standings as well as La Liga fantasy. Heading into Week 7, Las Palmas have scored 14 goals already, which is the third-most in the league. Only Barcelona and Real Madrid have scored more. Whenever you’re in that conversation, you know you’re doing something right.

FLEX: Franco Vasquez, Sevilla

Salary: $8,200

Vasquez is more expensive than Sarabia, but considering what is available to us with only three matchups to choose from he is worth taking a chance on. The upside is there with a player as talented as Vasquez so we are confident that he will produce in Saturday’s La Liga fantasy competitions. Sevilla enters the week in seventh place in the standings with 11 points through six games.
