Looking at the Odds Behind Pacquiao vs Mayweather

The attention of the boxing world will be geared on Las Vegas this Saturday as the long-awaited Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather Jr welterweight clash takes place at the MGM Grand Arena.  The fight is being hyped as the first “Fight of the Century” to be held in the 21st century, and the fight has been getting unprecedented world-wide attention.

Mayweather is 38 years old, and Pacquiao is 36, and in terms of a fight, this match may have been better off getting made five or six years ago when the men were in their primes.  But then, the astronomical money figures being tossed around for this fight would not have been possible.  For Mayweather, who is fond of saying he is “in the check cashing business” as well as for Pacquiao, who has never been shy about high-rolling, the main reason to do the fight was the money.

And there has started to be a lot of talk about a potential rematch and even a trilogy.  For those possibilities to materialize, both men are going to have to come in and put on a show and really fight.  If the fight is flat in anyway, such as with Mayweather running and hitting with one punch at a time to win a boring judges decision like he has for years now, then the two are going to have to get together at a discount price, because people will not pay for garbage twice.

Check out the latest video blog, where we review the numbers for Pacuiao versus Mayweather and the two other fights from the card that are getting attention at the books.
