Last week’s episode of Lucha Underground featured an iconic rematch between former Lucha Underground Champions Prince Puma and Mil Muertes. Tonight, Johnny Mundo challenges Sexy Star for the Gift of the Gods Championship.
Opening Segment
Sexy Star approaches Dario Cueto in his office, and cashes in her Gift of the Gods Championship to take on Matanza Cueto for the Lucha Underground Championship. However, she has to defend the Gift of the Gods Championship tonight against Johnny Mundo. If Fenix, Drago, or Aerostar interfere in the title match, they will be banned from the Temple forever.
Marty “The Moth” Martinez (w/Mariposa) vs. Ivelisse
This match takes place because of the result of Ivelisse’s match with Mariposa several weeks ago. After the match, Marty “The Moth” Martinez would end up attacking the self-proclaimed “baddest bitch in the building,” and Ivelisse demanded this match.
The numbers game comes into play with Mariposa attacking Ivelisse at every opportunity she has. Martinez takes advantage, and turns a unique full nelson submission into a slam and gets the pinfall. Winner: Marty “The Moth” Martinez
After the match, Sami Callihan (apparently Ivelisse’s boyfriend) makes his first-ever appearance in the Temple to attack Martinez and Mariposa. Callihan and Ivelisse stand tall heading to the back, but it seems like Ivelisse didn’t like Callihan’s decision to show up.
Backstage Segment
Dario Cueto enters a limousine to talk to one of his higher-ups, who says that an “ascension” of some sort is almost complete. Cueto is given a pretty sizeable box, which might be part of his “unique opportunity” for Cage or Texano.
Texano (0) vs. Cage (2) – Best of 5 Series (Match 3)
The first match of this series was supposed to be a one-off deal, with the winner receiving a unique opportunity. When Cage picked up the win, Dario Cueto twisted the result into a Best of 5 Series. Cage would end up picking up the victory in the second match as well, making this a must-win scenario for Texano. Texano is the youngest AAA Heavyweight Champion of all time, so he isn’t someone for Cage to take lightly.
Cage gets cocky towards the end of the match, and Texano takes advantage to sneak a small package cradle on The Machine for his first victory in the series. Winner: Texano

Backstage Segment
We are back in Dario Cueto’s office, but this time with the king of lucha libre, Rey Mysterio. Mysterio keeps getting betrayed by Chavo Guerrero, so he wants Guerrero to leave Lucha Underground. He proposes a match for next week that Dario Cueto schedules: Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero in a Loser Leaves Lucha match. This means that whoever loses must leave Lucha Underground permanently.
Sexy Star (c) vs. Johnny Mundo – Gift of the Gods Championship
Johnny Mundo has been demanding an opportunity for the Lucha Underground Championship, but Dario Cueto has not been giving him what he wants. While the Lucha Underground Championship keeps getting defended in Dario’s Dial of Doom matches, Mundo looked towards the Gift of the Gods Championship, which he could cash in one week in advance for a Lucha Underground Championship opportunity (just like Sexy Star did earlier tonight). Mundo’s ally Jack Evans would get a shot at Sexy Star’s gold before he did, and now that Mundo bribed Cueto with about $94,000, Cueto finally gave him a shot at a title.
Johnny Mundo accidentally spears referee Marty Elias, then PJ Black and Jack Evans (Mundo’s partners in the Worldwide Underground) storm the ring to attack Sexy Star. As soon as a new referee enters the ring, Johnny Mundo tries to cover Sexy Star, but she kicks out. Evans and Black then proceed to take out the second referee. While the Trios Champions are not allowed to help Sexy Star, there is nothing stopping The Mack. The longtime friend of Sexy Star hits stunners on The Worldwide Underground, and they brawl to bring this match back to a true one-on-one affair.
Marty Elias prevented Mundo from using a steel chair, but not from using brass knuckles. After using the knuckles on Sexy Star, Mundo steals the Gift of the Gods Championship. Winner, and NEW Gift of the Gods Champion: Johnny Mundo
