Lucha Underground Recap: Ultima Lucha Dos Pt. III

Tonight is the Season 3 finale of Lucha Underground, and the third part of Ultima Lucha Dos. There are several huge matches that will take place tonight in the Temple. Ivelisse will face Taya to determine the alpha female in Lucha Underground. The King of Lucha Libre, Rey Mysterio, will face Prince Puma, who represents the new age of lucha libre. Johnny Mundo, Jack Evans, and PJ Black will defend their Trios Championships against Fenix, Aerostar, and Drago. Black Lotus and El Dragon Azteca Jr. fight a very personal battle over the deaths of their parents and mentors. To main event the evening, Pentagon Jr. will challenge Matanza Cueto for the Lucha Underground Championship.

Opening Segment
Vampiro helps Pentagon Jr. get ready for his championship match with one final challenge: destroy his former self, the one who was “broken” and succumbed to fear. Pentagon Jr. is no more, and is taken over by Pentagon Dark.

Johnny Mundo, Jack Evans, & PJ Black (c) vs. Fenix, Drago, & Aerostar – Lucha Underground Trios Championship
The Worldwide Underground (Mundo, Evans, and Black) has held the Trios Championships since they defeated Rey Mysterio, El Dragon Azteca Jr., and Prince Puma for the belts in the finals of the Trios Tournament.

This match gives Fenix the opportunity to become the first-ever Triple Crown Winner in Lucha Underground. Fenix has won the Gift of the Gods Championship and the Lucha Underground Championship, so there is only one belt that hasn’t been around his waist.

After PJ Black knocks out the referee, they use every underhanded tactic imaginable to take out their opponents. Johnny Mundo looks for the End of the World on Fenix, and Angélico makes his return by limping down to the ring on crutches. Angélico uses his crutches as a weapon on Mundo, and Fenix capitalizes with a sitout piledriver to put Mundo away and become a Triple Crown Winner. Winners, and NEW Trios Champions: Fenix, Drago, & Aerostar

Predicted Winners: Johnny Mundo, PJ Black, & Jack Evans (1/4)

El Dragon Azteca Jr. vs. Black Lotus
Tonight is the debut of Black Lotus, who looks to get revenge on El Dragon Azteca Jr., since she suspects this the original El Dragon Azteca killed her parents. After this assumption (some say it was really Matanza Cueto), Lotus killed the original El Dragon Azteca.

During the match, Pentagon Jr. Dark interferes and attacks both competitors. Pentagon then proceeds to break the arms of both Black Lotus and El Dragon Azteca Jr. Result: No Contest

After his destruction of Lotus and Azteca, Pentagon announces that he is officially Pentagon Dark, and that Pentagon Jr. is “dead.” Pentagon Dark is ready, and demands that his championship match happens now.

Prediction is null due to the no contest result.

Matanza Cueto (c) w/Dario Cueto vs. Pentagon Dark – Lucha Underground Championship
Matanza Cueto is the reason that Pentagon Dark was born. Pentagon Jr. challenged Matanza for a championship match months ago, and Dario Cueto’s monster brother broke Pentagon Jr.’s back.

Pentagon Dark dominates almost the entire match, and even gets assistance when Vampiro gives him a barbed wire bat. Dario Cueto prevents Pentagon from hitting Matanza with the bat, and Pentagon looks to break El Jefe’s arm. While setting up Dario Cueto for the armbreaker, Matanza Cueto takes advantage, and hits Wrath of the Gods to retain the championship. Winner, and STILL Lucha Underground Champion: Matanza Cueto

Predicted Winner: Pentagon Dark (1/5) – Man, this is hard to predict.

Taya vs. Ivelisse
It is unclear where the animosity between these two begins, but what is clear is that they do not like each other in the slightest. Ivelisse has been with Lucha Underground since Day One, but Taya has made quite the impact since her debut and can give Ivelisse a run for her money.

Ivelisse seems to have Taya put away, and the lights go black. As soon as the lights turn back on, Catrina is right behind Ivelisse, then Catrina proceeds to hit Ivelisse with an innovative double underhook maneuver. Catrina then practically teleports to the top of the stand, while Taya finishes off Ivelisse. After the match, Catrina then gives Ivelisse the Lick of Death. Winner: Taya

Predicted Winner: Taya (2/5) – I got another one right!

Prince Puma vs. Rey Mysterio
To end Ultima Lucha, we have the face of Lucha Underground facing the king of lucha libre. Rey Mysterio is the main reason why lucha libre is the way it is today, innovating a myriad of moves to create more exciting matches. Mysterio has been wrestling for at least 25 years, and now Prince Puma is one of the men to take Mysterio’s innovation to the next level.

Mysterio hits the 619 on Puma, followed up by a hurricanrana to pick up the victory and prove why he is El Rey. Winner: Rey Mysterio

Predicted Winner: Prince Puma (2/6)

Matt Striker starts thanking the fans for their support, and Pentagon Dark comes out of nowhere to attack his master. After superkicking Striker out of the way, Pentagon Dark starts assaulting Vampiro. Now after leaving Vampiro a bloody mess in the middle of the ring, Pentagon Dark is the new master.

We switch gears to outside the Temple, where Dario Cueto is handcuffed and put in the back of a police van, and El Jefe ends the show smiling.
