Lucha Underground Recap: Biker Brawl

Photo from El Rey Network

Tonight on Lucha Underground, The Temple looks past the Cueto Cup and onto Ultima Lucha Tres. This week’s episode features the return of Argenis, Joey Ryan vs. Sexy Star, and a Boyle Heights Biker Brawl.

Opening Segment
Dario Cueto approaches the Monster, Matanza Cueto, Dario’s brother who is locked inside a cage. Dario locked his brother up because Matanza’s obsession with Rey Mysterio seemed to be harmful to the family, but Dario realizes that Matanza was just trying to protect El Jefe. After interfering in Rey Mysterio’s Lucha Underground Championship Match against Johnny Mundo last week, Dario got hit with a 619 from the king of Lucha Libre and wants revenge.

Dario announces that at the 100th episode of Lucha Underground (which is just a few weeks away), he has scheduled a match between Matanza and Rey Mysterio, and he wants his brother to destroy the former WWE Superstar.

Announcements
In four weeks, Ultima Lucha Tres takes over the Temple and will take place over four action-packed nights. The only confirmed match so far is Johnny Mundo defending the Lucha Underground Championship against the winner of the Cueto Cup, Prince Puma.

Son of Madness vs. Mascarita Sagrada
In the first round of the Cueto Cup, Son of Madness made his debut with the sole objective of fighting Son of Havoc and kicking him out of their biker gang. Madness did end up taking the jacket from Havoc but before Havoc got kicked out of the gang, he gave Mascarita Sagrada a jacket and dubbed him an honorary member. Now, Son of Madness is trying to negate that.

Sagrada heads to the top turnbuckle but he gets a big boot to the face. Madness then drives Sagrada’s head into the mat with a brainbuster, securing the dominant win. Winner: Son of Madness

After the match, Son of Havoc appears to fight his former brother and Dario Cueto calls for security. While security pulls them apart, Paul London grabs Mascarita Sagrada and carries him to the back (Remember, the Rabbit Tribe worships him as a god). Cueto then announces tonight’s main event: Son of Havoc vs. Son of Madness in a Boyle Heights Biker Brawl for one of the seven ancient Aztec medallions.

Marty “The Moth” Martinez (w/Mariposa) vs. Argenis
This is Argenis’ first match in the Temple in a few months after Pentagon Dark broke his arm in the first round of the Cueto Cup. Marty “The Moth” Martinez advanced a couple rounds in the Cueto Cup before getting eliminated.

Throughout the match, Martinez rips Argenis’ mask and busts him open, just like he did with Fenix in the Cueto Cup. Martinez picks up the victory then grabs a mic and challenges Fenix to a match at Ultima Lucha Tres, where he looks to take Fenix’s mask from him. Fenix then appears out of nowhere to attack Martinez and Mariposa and send them retreating. Fenix then accepts, but only as a Mask vs. Hair match. Winner: Marty “The Moth” Martinez

Joey Ryan vs. Sexy Star
In the Cueto Cup, Sexy Star competed against Veneno, a relatively unknown luchador. Joey Ryan interrupted the match, threw Sexy Star out of the way, and exposed Veneno as Cortez Castro returning undercover.

The story of this match is overshadowed by recent events at AAA Triplemania, which featured Sexy Star purposely hurting TNA Knockout Sienna during an armbar. It is kind of unfortunate that Lucha Underground is taped well in advance because Sexy Star is supposed to be a hero to the fans but she has been denounced from most of the wrestling industry.

After being distracted by Taya at ringside, Ryan hits Sexy Star on the side of the face with a superkick to steal the victory. After the match, Cortez Castro attacks Joey Ryan with a kendo stick before Ryan retreats. Winner: Joey Ryan

Son of Havoc vs. Son of Madness – Aztec Medallion (Boyle Heights Biker Brawl)
Don’t be fooled by all of the crazy terms, this is just a Street Fight. The winner of the Boyle Heights Biker Brawl will win one of the seven ancient Aztec Medallions, whose owners compete for the Gift of the Gods Championship. The Gift of the Gods Champion can then cash in that title one week in advance for a guaranteed shot at the Lucha Underground Championship.

After hitting Madness with a beer bottle across the skull, Son of Havoc lands the Shooting Star Press to earn an Aztec Medallion and get one step closer to the Lucha Underground Championship. Winner: Son of Havoc
