Manchester City supporters lined the streets on Monday as the club celebrated FA Cup and Carabao Cup victories with an open-top bus parade, then moved on to a glitzy evening farewell for manager Pep Guardiola and players Bernardo Silva and John Stones, according to the report.
City’s women’s team were also honoured after securing the WSL title, and forward Khadija “Bunny” Shaw announced she had signed a new four-year deal with the club.
Thousands of fans were present for the farewell to Guardiola, who spent a decade at City and won 20 trophies during his tenure, according to the report. That haul included six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, six League Cups and the Champions League.
Following the street celebrations, the men’s, women’s and academy squads were taken by bus to the Co-Op Live arena for the club’s official afterparty.
Guardiola’s three children attended the event and took part in presenting the trophies. Several former players were present, including former captain Fernandinho and, in a surprise appearance, Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany. All 20 trophies were brought out by Guardiola’s three children, Fernandinho, former sporting director Txiki Begiristain and former goalkeeper Éderson.
Also in attendance was Jack Grealish, who had spent the season on loan at Everton. Guardiola took part in an interview with Oasis musician Noel Gallagher, mirroring a media appearance he made when he joined the club a decade earlier.
