Manchester United have placed Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall and Fulham and USMNT left back Antonee Robinson on a summer shortlist, according to Sky Sports. The club is seeking reinforcements at left back to provide competition for 30-year-old Luke Shaw after Tyrell Malacia’s departure and with Patrick Dorgu being used further up the pitch.
United have been monitoring Hall for some time, Sky Sports adds, but Newcastle are reported to want a fee in excess of £60 million. The club’s valuation could complicate any move for the young defender.
Robinson, who is entering the final two years of his contract at Fulham, is also under consideration. Sky Sports notes that managerial uncertainty at Fulham could influence his availability and that he might be attainable for a lower fee than Hall.
Elsewhere in Europe, Real Madrid are said to be preparing a loan move for 18-year-old forward Franco Mastantuono to Juventus as part of plans to clear space for a possible free-agent signing of Bernardo Silva, according to Tuttosport and ESPN. Mastantuono joined Madrid from River Plate for €45 million last summer, was omitted from Argentina’s World Cup squad and is expected to leave temporarily to secure more game time.
Additional reported activity includes Newcastle submitting a first official offer to Osasuna for winger Víctor Muñoz with talks ongoing around €40 million, Fabrizio Romano reports. Footmercato says Paris Saint-Germain have contacted West Ham about a potential double deal for Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville valued at roughly €130 million, and that Manchester United are preparing an offer for RC Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare. ESPN reports Real Madrid are in advanced negotiations for Bernardo Silva and that Manchester City have bid for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, with United reportedly ready to withdraw from the Anderson pursuit.
