Manhattan Jaspers – Saint Peter’s Peacocks Preview – 01.25.2016

It will be a battle between Metro Atlantic Athletic opponents when the Saint Peter’s Peacocks (8-9) welcome the Manhattan Jaspers (8-10) to Yanitelli Center. The game gets underway at 7:00 pm ET on Monday, Jan. 25 and will air on ES3.

The Peacocks lost to Iona 64-58 on Friday. Quadir Welton recorded 12 points and 13 rebounds, earning his fourth double-double of the year. The Jaspers, meanwhile, are coming off a 78-71 win over Monmouth on Thursday. Calvin Crawford led the game in scoring with 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting.

Trevis Wyche has been playing at a high level as of late for the Peacocks, averaging 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 three-pointers over the last five games.

Second-chance opportunities are expected to be few and far between for the Jaspers in this contest. They rank 329th in the nation in offensive rebounding (OR% of 23.9%), while Saint Peter’s is 34th-best in the nation on the defensive backboards (DR% of 74.6%).

Saint Peter’s, a six-point favorite, will look to capitalize at home against Manhattan. The Over/Under (O/U) for the matchup is set at 128 points. The Peacocks are looking to improve on their records of 8-9 Straight Up (SU) and 10-3 Against The Spread (ATS). Expect Saint Peter’s to have lots of opportunities at the line against the Jaspers, who are one of the most foul-prone teams in the nation with an average of 23.2 fouls per game.
