March Madness Recap: Duke vs. Rhode Island Betting Odds

Duke, Blue Devils, NCAA Basketball, NCAA Tournament
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The No. 2 Duke Blue Devils defeated the overmatched No. 7 Rhode Island Rams, 87-62, on Saturday, March 17, in the 2018 NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32. Duke successfully covered the 9.5-point spread. The game hit directly on the total of 149.

Duke, the second seed in a Midwest bracket that also features Kansas, will move on to face the winner of Michigan State vs. Syracuse. Odds for that Sweet 16 matchup will soon be released by BetDSI Sportsbook. We anticipate Duke would be a heavy favorite against Syracuse and a slim favorite against Michigan State.

Freshman sensation Marvin Bagley III scored 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting to pace the Blue Devils on Saturday. Bagley added nine rebounds. Duke shot 56.9 percent from the field and 10 for 21 from three-point range. Guard E.C. Matthews led the Rams with 23 points and seven rebounds. Duke won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Dan Hurley’s squad, 36-29. The Blue Devils had 20 assists to Rhode Island’s 15.

Though Duke is a No. 2 seed, the Blue Devils were given the second-best odds to win the tournament, with BetDSI pegging the Blue Devils at +550 to cut down the nets in San Antonio. Rhode Island had slimmer odds at +10000.
