March Madness Recap: Kansas State vs Kentucky Betting Odds

Kansas State

The Kansas State Wildcats edged past the Kentucky Wildcats 61-58 on Thursday, March 22 in the Sweet Sixteen of March Madness. The game went down to the wire but Kentucky’s buzzer-beating three-point attempt fell short, handing Kansas State the win. Kansas State closed a six-point underdog but managed to cover and win outright. The game managed to go under the total of 137 as the over was never really threatened.

The Wildcats will move on to face Loyola-Chicago in one of the most improbable Elite Eight matchups in the history of March Madness. Who could have envisioned that we’d be seeing a No. 9 take on the No. 11 seed on Saturday for a spot in the Final Four? Odds for that matchup will soon be posted by BetDSI Sportsbook but we anticipate Kansas State about a five-point favorite over the Ramblers.

Kansas State was led by 22 points from Xavier Sneed but he finished the game on the bench after fouling out. A total of 51 fouls were called and three Wildcats ended up fouling out. However, Berry Brown Jr., who had a rough night shooting (four-of-15), managed to hit the game-winning shot on the Wildcats second-to-last possession. Kentucky was led by P.J. Washington, who had 18 points and 15 rebounds. Shai-Gilgeous Alexander scored 15 while Kevin Knox added 13 points and eight rebounds.

That sets up an Elite Eight matchup of two teams that were among the longest shots to win March Madness. The Wildcats were at +30000 while the Ramblers were at +60000. It’s a shocking contrast as the winner of this matchup will face a team ranked no lower than fifth. While the No. 9 and No. 11 seed survived the South Region, the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 seed are left in the East Region. The East Region will be heavily favored over whoever they will eventually face from the South.
