The No. 2 University of North Carolina Tar Heels defeated the No. 15 Lipscomb Bison, 84-66, on Friday, March 16, in the 2018 NCAA Tournament’s Round of 64. North Carolina narrowly failed to cover the large spread as 19.5-point favorites while the game went under the total of 161.5.

North Carolina will move on to face Texas A&M, which defeated Providence in a close matchup earlier in the day Friday, in the Round of 32. Odds for that matchup will soon be released by BetDSI Sportsbook, but we anticipate North Carolina, which is a favorite to challenge No. 1 seed Xavier in the West region for a run to the Final Four, will be a double-digit favorite against Texas A&M.

Kenny Williams scored 18 points on 6-for-8 shooting and collected three rebounds and two steals to pace the Tar Heels on Friday. The team shot an impressive 51.7 percent from the field. Lipscomb struggled on the boards as North Carolina collected 47 to the Bison’s 29.

North Carolina’s odds to win the NCAA Tournament were good, with BetDSI pegging the Tar Heels at +2000 to cut down the nets in San Antonio. Those were the ninth-best odds in the tournament. Lipscomb entered the tournament with very slim odds of winning the tournament, at +100000, tied for the slimmest odds of any team.
