Marial Shayok joins the Boston Celtics

After spending two seasons in Europe, Marial Shayok, a graduate of Iowa State, is expected to return to the NBA and sign with the Boston Celtics, according to Keith Smith. The Philadelphia 76ers picked the Canadian shooting guard with the 53rd overall choice in the 2019 NBA Draft. Despite only making four appearances with them and averaging 2.8 points per game, he had an amazing final NCAA season with the Cyclones.

After displaying his offensive prowess with the Delaware Blue Coats, where he made 35 appearances and averaged 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, he headed to Europe to play first for Bursaspor, then for Fenerbahce.

He was one of the top performers in the Turkish league in the second half of the 2020–21 season while wearing the green-and-white uniform, averaging 18.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.2 assists with Bursaspor. However, he discovered a terrible season with Sasha Djordjevic’s Fenerbahce when he made the decision to switch to the EuroLeague. He averaged 4.6 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in 15 EuroLeague contests.
