Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby said he was both “livid” and “confused” when he learned that the Baltimore Ravens had decided to back out of a trade that would have sent him to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round draft picks, citing medical concerns.
According to Crosby, the framework of the deal was in place before the Ravens ultimately chose not to move forward. The decision left the All-Pro pass-rusher processing a wide range of emotions as he considered what a move from the Raiders to the Ravens could have meant for his career and his life.
Crosby acknowledged that the abrupt reversal was difficult to accept initially, but said he has since come to view the outcome differently. While he did not go into specific details about the medical concerns raised by Baltimore, he emphasized that he feels ready to play and is focused on his role in Las Vegas.
The defensive end, a cornerstone of the Raiders’ defense and one of the league’s most productive edge rushers in recent seasons, framed the nixed trade as a turning point that reinforced his connection to the franchise that drafted him. He indicated that, after the initial frustration subsided, he took the situation as a sign that his path remains with the Raiders.
Crosby described himself as fully committed to helping Las Vegas continue to build, stressing that his mindset is centered on improving, leading, and competing with his current teammates. He said the trade discussions and their collapse have only strengthened his motivation to perform and to embrace his role as a leader in the Raiders’ locker room.
While the voided deal highlighted how quickly circumstances can change in the NFL, Crosby said he believes he “is where he’s supposed to be” and views his future as being with the Raiders. Rather than dwell on what might have happened in Baltimore, he has turned his attention back to preparation, continuity with the coaching staff and teammates, and his long-term goals with the organization.
