Men’s Golf Placed Second in the NCAA DIII Preview

The No 13 The Washington & Lee men’s golf team finished the three-round, 54-hole event on Tuesday afternoon in a tie for second place at the NCAA DIII Men’s Fall Preview. The Generals played at Transylvania University and finished 36 over par with a team score of 296, 298 and 306. (900). Over the course of the three days, rounds two and three were played at Champions Trace, with round one taking place at Keene Run GC.

Throughout the competition, the Blue and White never finished lower than third in the team standings. On the first day of play, the wind had an average speed of 15 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph. Despite the bad weather, the team finished the round just five strokes behind the leader, No. 9 Illinois Wesleyan, after shooting a field-best five under par on the back nine. The Titan’s 191 (+3) round was the preview’s lowest scoring effort, and No. 10 Wittenberg equaled it during the day’s final push.
