Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

It will be a battle between SEC opponents when the South Carolina Gamecocks (7-7, 2-0 SEC) welcome the Missouri Tigers (9-4, 0-1 SEC) to Colonial Life Arena. The game will air on SEC Network+ at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 13, 2019.

Missouri Tigers at South Carolina Gamecocks ATS Prediction

The last time the Tigers played, they were thoroughly outplayed by the No. 3 Tennessee Volunteers, 87-63. One of Tennessee’s largest strengths was their ability to convert at the free throw line. They were 18-21 (85.7 percent), while the Tigers were just 13-20 (65.0 percent). Jordan Geist played well for Missouri, putting up 12 points and five assists.

The Gamecocks defeated the No. 14 Mississippi State Bulldogs in their last outing, 87-82. South Carolina won the rebounding battle. The Gamecocks had 16 offensive rebounds and 47 total rebounds, while the Bulldogs had nine and 40, respectively. Maik Kotsar was the top scorer from either team with 25 points on 10-for-18 shooting from the field.

It will be a showdown of contrasting styles as the up-and-down Gamecocks will look to push the more methodical Tigers. The Gamecocks rank 59th in possessions per game while the Tigers are 340th. It could also be a sloppy game for the offense of the Tigers, which ranks 280th in ball protection (turnover percentage of 20.8 percent). They’ll be going up against the stingy defense of the Gamecocks, which forces the 57th-most turnovers in the country (22.3 percent).

After the Tigers won the lone contest against the Gamecocks last season, 79-68, this will be the first matchup of the year between these two teams. Missouri had a much better effective field goal percentage (0.612 vs. 0.430). South Carolina, meanwhile, had a better turnover percentage (13.8 vs. 17.9).
