MLB Betting Picks For Friday, April 21

The MLB season continues with a full slate on Friday and that means plenty of options to choose from when searching for the best bets on the board. We took the time to break down the most favorable matchups in an effort to pick some winners. Here is a look at our MLB betting picks for Friday’s schedule.

Boston Red Sox @ Baltimore Orioles

Friday, 7:05 PM ET

Pitching has played an integral role in the Orioles early season success. Baltimore will hope that trend continues with one of their breakout studs on the mound on Friday against the Red Sox. Dylan Bundy is 2-1 with a 1.86 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP through his first three starts. His only loss came against Boston on April 11th. However, he only gave up three earned runs in 6.1 innings of work in that game at Fenway Park. Bundy should feel more comfortable at home and he will almost certainly get more run support after Baltimore scored just one run in that loss to the Red Sox. Boston will counter with Drew Pomeranz, who won’t inspire confidence after he was hit hard by Tampa Bay in his last start.

Pick: Baltimore

Kansas City Royals @ Texas Rangers

Friday, 8:05 PM ET

The Royals and Rangers have both struggled out of the gate this season. However, Texas has the worse record of the two so far despite potentially having more talent. The Rangers will want to take advantage of a home date on Friday against Kansas City. Cole Hamels has been steady with a 3.50 ERA, but he is still looking for his first win of the year. We think Hamels has a good shot at picking up that victory on Friday with Nathan Karns getting the start for the Royals on the road.

MLB Betting Pick: Texas

St. Louis Cardinals @ Milwaukee Brewers

Friday, 8:10 PM ET

Speaking of teams that struggled out of the gate, St. Louis had dropped nine of its first 12 before stringing together three straight wins. That came to an end on Thursday, though, when they lost 7-5 to the Milwaukee Brewers.

That could be a momentum changer for them. They could be in tough to against Milwaukee on Friday because Adam Wainwright is on the mound. So far this season, he is 0-3 with a 7.24 ERA so far this season. His issues could be greater than just a slow start to the year. The Brewers will look to jump on Wainwright early as they try to get back in the win column at home. Milwaukee has struggled early on this year at home so the urgency will definitely be there. Wily Peralta has impressed with a 3-0 record and a 2.65 ERA to this point in the season. If Peralta could deliver another strong performance then he should improve to 4-0.

MLB Betting Pick: Milwaukee

San Francisco Giants @ Colorado Rockies

Friday, 8:40 PM ET

Colorado is looking to prove it can contend for a division title in the National League West this season. While they still have a long way to go, the Rockies clearly understand the importance of these early season matchups against division rivals.

Colorado will host the struggling Giants this weekend with an opportunity to gain some more ground on them in the standings. The Rockies took three of four from the Giants in San Francisco last weekend so a home series should set up favorably for them. Oddly enough, they are 7-3 on the road so far and just 3-3 at Coors Field. However, that will probably start to change. Coors Field is one of the best home-field advantages in all of baseball.

Tyler Chatwood is coming off his best start of the season after pitching a shutout against San Francisco in a 5-0 win last week. It should be harder to keep the Giants offense in check at Coors Field but we will give him the edge again in this matchup. San Francisco will counter with Johnny Cueto, who has been good but is overdue for a stumble after picking up wins in each of his first three starts.

MLB Betting Pick: Colorado
