MLB Betting Picks For Friday, April 28

After a relatively lighter Thursday, the MLB returns with a full slate for Friday with 15 games scheduled for the evening. We had a rough go of things with our MLB betting picks on Thursday, going 2-1 with our picks while losing some juice on one of our selections. We had the Cleveland Indians, who won with Corey Kluber on the mound. They beat the Houston Astros 4-3. However, that was our only win of the day. We ended up losing with the Boston Red Sox, who failed to score a single run against the New York Yankees. Chris Sale had a 10-strikeout outing but it wasn’t enough. As for our last pick, we had the Oakland Athletics, who lost a close game to the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels scored two runs in the first inning and that’s all they would eventually need as they won 2-1. They are now 12-12 while the A’s fell to 10-12.

We took the time to look at the matchups and pick out the best bets including three teams that should be well rested following days off. Here is a look at the best MLB betting picks on the board for Friday’s slate.

Baltimore Orioles @ New York Yankees

Friday, 7:05 PM ET

The Orioles will have the extra day off before opening a three-game set in the Bronx. Meanwhile, the Yankees will be forced to travel from Boston the night before. New York is off to an outstanding start but there are some that think they should regress in time. Meanwhile, Baltimore owns the best record in the American League East thanks in big part to a starting rotation that has proved its detractors wrong. Jayson Aquino will make his second start of the season on Friday. Aquino held the Red Sox to two earned runs over six innings of work in a 4-2 win in his debut. Meanwhile, C.C. Sabathia’s 2.70 ERA looks solid on paper but he is coming off his worst start of the season after giving up four earned runs in a 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. That could be a signal that Sabathia could be in tough again versus Baltimore on Friday night. As long as Aquino delivers another strong outing the Orioles should provide him with enough support to pick up the win.

MLB Betting Pick: Baltimore

Los Angeles Angels @ Texas Rangers

Friday, 8:05 PM ET

Texas should be well rested by the time they take the field against the Angels for the opener of their weekend set on Friday. The Rangers are two games below .500 through 22 games and even though it is early there should be a sense of urgency heading in to this series. Nick Martinez looked outstanding in his debut against the Kansas City Royals when he held them to just one earned run on four hits in a 2-1 win. Texas will bank on a similar performance from him on Friday opposite Tyler Skaggs for the Angels. The Rangers scored five runs in just five innings against Skaggs when they met him earlier this month so there is no reason to expect their bats to slow down the second time around.

The Rangers are a home dog in this spot and we like the price tag here. They actually opened as the favored at about -120 but now the Angels are favored by as much. We’ll go against the grain and take a shot with Texas.

MLB Betting Pick: Texas

Atlanta Braves @ Milwaukee Brewers

Friday, 8:10 PM ET

The Brewers have won three straight heading in to a home series with Atlanta. There are plenty of reasons to expect them to stay hot this weekend. Milwaukee’s 120 runs scored are the third-most in the majors so far this season and they own the best slugging percentage in all of baseball. Bartolo Colon has produced a respectable 4.50 ERA so far this season but will be in tough to keep this Brewers lineup in check. Meanwhile, Chase Anderson is 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA through four starts and he should be good enough to pick up another win at home in this favorable matchup.

MLB Betting Pick: Milwaukee
