MLB Lines:  After sustaining huge losses on the MLB board in 2012 and 2013 the Los Angeles Angels have been showing a slight profit for 2014 and are in contention for a post season spot in the American League but will only stay there if they can get consistent pitching.  The Atlanta Braves have the opposite problem, as they have major offensive problems that have offset some of the best pitching in the Major Leagues.  The Braves will host the Angels on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball with coverage at Turner Field starting at 8 PM ET.

The Real Contender in LA

The Angels have been one of the rising stocks on the board with the MLB lines so far after being the biggest bankroll busters in the game for the past two seasons.  The Angels rank 4th for run production but 17th for staff earned run average and 13th for quality starts.  The Angels fielding improved as well as they rank 6th for fewest errors committed.  They trail only Oakland in the AL West.

Half a Team

Atlanta is 18-14 at home with just 11 out of their 32 home games going over the total.  A big reason for the lack of overs at Turner Field is that the Braves rank 3rd for earned run average and 1st for quality starts while having that offset by an offense that ranks 29th for run production, 24th for batting average, and 23rd for OPS.  The Braves are in a heated battle with the Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins in the National League East Division.

The Pick

We’ll call for the underdog and under the total in this match up.
