MLB News: Dodgers, D-Backs Benches Clear, Brian Cashman Held at Gunpoint and More

We’ve all seen benches clear because of a hit batter or some choice words during a game, but how about after a game? That’s what happened Friday night after an emotional Diamondbacks rally over the Dodgers, when Arizona closer Archie Bradley got into it with a couple of Dodgers and emotions boiled over. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, on the other hand, was able to keep his cool even as police held him at gunpoint in a misunderstanding at a Connecticut gas station. Elsewhere, the comings and goings from the injured list and the closer’s role continue around baseball.

Replay review determined A.J. Pollock wasn’t hit by a pitch (the ruling was it hit the knob of the bat, too), but he and Bradley got into it anyway.

Police had returned Cashman’s stolen car to him, but not all officers got the message and pulled him over because the car was still listed as stolen.

Meanwhile, on the field, the Yankees expect slugging catcher Gary Sanchez back Saturday from the injured list.

The Braves removed Shane Greene from the closer’s role and moved in another deadline acquisition, Mark Melancon.

The Blue Jays lost one of their promising young players, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., to the injured list with a strained quad.
