With the reigning World Series champions hanging on the fringes of the AL playoff race, Mookie Betts put the Red Sox on his back with a first-inning home run … and then another one about five hours later as Boston found a way to win Saturday night. Elsewhere, the Royals officially have a new owner, authorities have cleared the Dominican players accused of being in a drug ring and Max Muncy has a broken wrist after all. Oh, and you’ve got to see Tyler Naquin’s catch (and injury).

It was a long night for the Red Sox on West Coast time, so they were especially grateful to end it with another Betts home run. It keeps Boston within 5.5 games of Oakland in the AL wild-card race.

Best wishes to David Glass, who is selling the Royals in part because of health reasons, and to the Royals, who appear to have found a committed local owner.

Dominican authorities determined there wasn’t enough evidence to charge former big leaguers Octavio Dotel and Luis Castillo in the country’s drug trafficking investigation.

Bad news after all for Dodgers second baseman Max Muncy, for whom X-rays initially were negative. But Muncy thinks he can returns in a couple of weeks.

Finally, check out Tyler Naquin’s spectacular catch for the Indians. Naquin was carted off the field, but the team is hopeful it’s only a knee sprain.
